If BC’s coach was at Notre Dame, he would have got a 10 year extension after interviewing with the NY Jets.

LOL. I don't understand why he didn't just ask if he could go interview for the job. I like they guy, 20 wins in two seasons is pretty good in my book. But what kind of loyalty does it show when you go interviewing for NFL jobs without your team even knowing?

What part of "5-year contract" did he not understand?? He seemed like a decent guy, but Jags replaced a golddigger, and should have known that BC wasn't looking for the same sort of opportunist. I'm glad he's gone.

yeah honestly. I don't even know what he saw in the NYJ job. If Favre retires...again...they are screwed. They have no back up and a low draft pick. Their back up just won the AFC East for the Dolphins. If Favre DOES come back he's still getting older every year. Why would you want that job when you just won 20 games in two years with BC? Idk who should get the job, either Spaziani or hire a new one. I think Tommy Bowden would be good at BC.

Tommy Bowden at BC? LOL. Yeah right. No coach of that status is going to waste their time at BC. We are not a big football school even though we pretend to be. Our own students are indifferent. I see someone internally getting the head coaching position to be honest.

On another note, I wonder how this affects recruits for the next season.

lol you never know, i think that would be awsome, I live about 45 minutes from Clemson now and I would love it if he went to BC and won atleast 10 games.

i wish we weren't even having this conversation

he was a good coach...it will be hard for bc to replace a coach like that

He was a good coach, or we just had a good team. We should be strong for a while to come and Dominique Davis looks legit.

Yeah, but since Peabody and Sherman won't be firing up the Way-Back Machine anytime soon, we pretty much have to accept the fact that he's gone and we're having this discussion.

I hope BC folks value integrity over winning, and respect the athletic director's decision.

I am reminded of 1989, when the U of Michigan athletic director, Bo Schembeckler, fired his basketball coach just as March Madness was beginning, because the coach was planning on moving on to Arizona State at the end of the season. Michigan and its fill-in coach went on to win the NCAA championship. 1989 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dang, I am too young to remember that, I was born in 1991. But that's awsome

I think we're going to tank next season. Raji & Brace are going to be hard to replace. Their presence on defense is what made our team this year, imo.

I'm hoping Davis gains some confidence and improves in the off-season. Right now, he's hard to watch.

Our roster is hurting with all these exits and no one formidable on our current lineup seems to size up.

Yeah, in that game against Vandy I saw him scramble for ONE first down. He needs to trust his feet, he's fast. We have a future at RB too, tho.

Yeah, Montel Harris is going to do some big things for the squad. He just needs a better supporting cast that's going to create openings for him.

I can only hope that the ACC will be as wide-open and as much of a crap-shoot next year as it was this year. Three teams that I see doing well next year are BC, Va Tech, and FSU. What about you?

yeah i respect BC firing him too. it's something you don't see very often these days.

Spaziani. Spaziani. Spaziani. Spaziani.

Give the man a shot.

I'll miss Jag a lot--he's a pretty damn good coach after all. I was very disappointed to see him go, but BC made the right decision.

Jagodzinski made it clear that he had no desire to continue coaching in the collegiate ranks. He not only interviewed with the Jets for their vacant head coach position, but he also made contact with his old friend, with the Atlanta Falcons, Jim Mora Jr. for the Seahawks' offensive coordinator position. It was no secret that Jagodzinski did not enjoy the collegiate coaching process, especially recruiting. Therefore, he did the best he could to get fired. DeFilippo had no other option. Once Jags made it clear that he did not want to remain at BC by interviewing elsewhere, there was no other choices but to sever ties in order to salvage the damaged recruiting season. What high school athlete wants to go to a school where the coach does not want to be there?

With Spaziani (or Bicknell Jr.), BC gets a committed coach that wants to be there. Herzlich has already stated that everyone on the team would overwhelmingly approve of Spaziani as head coach. The transition would be as seamless as possible. Steve Logan is likely to leave as soon as he can as the only reason he came to be the offensive coordinator was because of Jags, his protege. It's a shame, too. Logan was a better offensive mind than Jags. However, Spaziani is the clear choice for BC.

I don't think BC will tank next year. Let's face it - Many thought BC would tank this year after losing Matt Ryan and what - 15 graduated with him. The thought was that 2008 would be a rebuilding year, but the team came together and gave their fans a pretty good year. There is still a good core returning - including Herzlich - and Davis will know what he has to do. Harris is also quite the player. I am a little worried about what is coming in, with respect to recruiting, but if BC does the right thing and gives Spaziani the head coaching job, that should help in putting things on course.

With respect to the other teams in the ACC, we did well because most of our conference was awful this year. Hopefully, we bring in some great recruits.

I'm not sure how I feel about Spaziani coaching. This could be a great thing since he stepped in for the Meineke Car Care Bowl when Tom O'Brien left. We'll see how that goes if he is chosen.
