BC in a nutshell?

I’m a junior and super confused as to which colleges I should I apply to. I’m looking for a college with a great premed program (not necessarily an actual program or major, meaning wonderful advisors and opportunities to boost med school applications/acceptance). I’m definitely willing to work my a** off in college, but of course want a little fun too!

Can anyone please inform me about BC? How is the science rigor? Dorms? Social life? Party scene? School spirit? Difficulty to maintain a 3.7+?

Dear BlueDevil18 : The sciences at Boston College are among the most well respected majors with the most intensive curriculums. Chemistry enjoys a strong faculty and solid research funding and the Biology department is now making similar strides forward.

I was trying to construct a creative way to define a 3.7 GPA for you and came up with the following : My second and final BC student, now graduating, has slightly over a 3.7 GPA as a mathematics/chemistry combination along with the honors program. That ranking is approximately 120/1500 in CAS. The implication is that an “A-” (3.7) or better average would be the Top 10% of the class.

Now, remember that Boston College’s freshman class takes 85% of their freshmen from their High School’s Top 10%. Therefore, a 3.7+ GPA requires the same Top 10% performance that many achieved in High School however against a more concentrated group of academically oriented students. In short, nothing worth having is easy.

As for the other topics, some simple searches here on the Boston College board will afford you a wealth of background material.

Any top private college has all of those.

And you will have to work your butt off in any premed program, unless you are highly gifted.
