BC legacy question

I applied regular decision to BC and I have a legacy…Does anybody know if legacies count at BC for either EA or RD or both??

Legacy contributes to the application regardless of EA or RD.

It’s never clear to me how much legacy contributes. It varies from school to school and I’m sure it even varies from applicant to applicant. But I’ve seen several BC alumni parents in recent years who got quite upset because BC didn’t accept their son/daughter.

Dear jdolla : First and foremost, applications are reviewed on their own merit and BC’s admissions counselors, briefing sessions, and walking tours will always mention this detail. A three-way SAT score of 1750 is not offset by the fact that your father, mother, and grandfather attended the school a generation back. Second, the tradition of legacy is not only tied to previous attendance, but also on-going involvement (strong alumni community) and also to some extent contributions to the school’s calls (scholarships, endowments and such). In closing, legacy is a feather that can tilt the application scale while your own application is a brick. Hope the analogy makes some sense here.

I’m sure legacy has a greater impact that a mere feather. It will obviously not save you if you fail, but it does have some weight over an ordinary applicant. Colleges want their alums to continue donating and staying with the school.
