Hi, I'm new to CC and wondering of I have a chance at Boston College, Notre Dame, or Vanderbilt.

I have a 34 ACT, but a 2000 SAT, 740 US History, and 690 Biology M. I was thinking that I wouldn't submit my SAT scores.

I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.7 weighted GPA. I took as many AP and honor classes as my school offers and received As in all of them. My rank is 3/161...I take an elective that drops my GPA.

I was a varsity cheerleader for 2 years, drum major for the other 2 years, editor for the school paper, Vice President of math club senior year, on class board every year, and part of a couple school service clubs (ex: one plans freshman orientation). I also volunteer at a hospital.

I'm also a member of NHS.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

I doubt it, but if it does if would give you a very tiny advantage. If you want to attend a school with a religious affiliation I suggest you check out Fordham as a match and maybe Georgetown as your high reach. I hope it helped!

It seems that the general opinion on this page is that ND is a match and BC is a reach for this applicant… but isn’t ND generally harder to get into than BC? Just wondering about the perspective from others, that is what I always thought.

I would agree that ND is more difficult to get into. BC has a higher acceptance rate by about 10% and a lower, though not substantially so, test score average. If that’s how you measure it, then, yes, ND is more selective.

LOL. BC is a match. ND is a low reach. Vandy is a slightly higher low reach. You are in good position for many schools, but with any competitive school you will have to wait until things come out.

There are Catholic schools that are more likely to admit freshman from Catholic High Schools, but they are not in your league.

I would agree that Fordham and Georgetown maybe good matches. You may also want to consider the Catholic University of America. It is a high end school that too few people konw about.

Might look at Holy Cross very good Catholic school with strong academics and great school spirit. HC has nice campus 1 hour from Boston and a fantastic alumni network which helps for job placement. Holy Cross is smaller version of ND but easier to get into. Also ND is more selective and better academics than BC IMO. The Holy Cross website is informative.
