BC or GWU?

I got accepted to both BC and GWU for psychology (neuroscience concentration if applicable). I’m having a hard time deciding which one to choose because GW has a lot of internship opportunities and plus, i heard if you do well during your undergrad, it will help a lot when you apply to GW med school (like… not taking MCAT or w/e). But BC has a lot of different concentrations in psychology, few of which are specifically based on neuroscience.
Also, I have heard that both BC and GW have good location, good social life, good professors, good college experience… etc. It all seems hard for me to decide right now.

Right now, I’m leaning toward GW because i got into the honors program and plus they gave me the scholarship + award which amount to about 35.5 grand. I haven’t heard from BC’s financial aid and scholarship stuff because I am missing couple financial forms for them. So, I am not really counting the money as a factor right now.

Please, any inputs would be awesome! Tell me which college is better for me in what aspect and why. They are both really good colleges and its seems hard to turn down either one.

(btw, i already posted this on GWU forum… i guess i wanna hear from BC forum as well)

BC has an early assurance program with Tufts Med where you apply after your sophomore year and if you get in, you are guaranteed admission to Tufts Med School without taking the MCATS (of those who do end up applying - you need a 3.5 or higher - approximately 50% actually get in). Academically, BC trumps GW hands down (there’s a reason why you got into honors at GW and not BC)…but honestly, I’m not familiar with the honors program at GW so I can’t really comment on if it’s worth turning down a better school for. Also, don’t choose GW because you think it has more internship opportunities- If you go to BC, you’ll be in Boston which offers a limitless number of internship opportunities and plus, I’m pretty positive that BC’s alumni network is much larger than GW’s. Ultimately, it is your choice but if I were you, BC would be the clear frontrunner.

oh, i never knew about that. About the honors program, I really dont care about either of em, because for GW honors, all you do is take “smaller size” classes which you can do anyway w/o the “honors program” by looking up the courses and choosing it for yourself. Also for BC, from what i read, all you do is take humanities/philosophy classes and seminars, which i dont care about, because its not really relevant to me. (Correct me if im wrong please). I do agree that BC has that “prestigious” reputation and its name is known throughout the nation, which would really help me a lot in applying to medical school, but GWU offers as much opportunities in my view, because GW has its own hospital and the fact that it is located in DC, would get me a lot of connections. Ty for the input!

I think this is common knowledge, but Boston BY FAR has the best hospitals in the country, hands down.

Quality of hospitals in Boston > DC.

So if you are looking for good medical connections, DC is NOT better than Boston.

I live near GW and have a lot of friends there and have spent a lot of time on both campuses. Basically, GW will not give you the traditional college experience. There is no real campus to speak of, just a grouping of buildings in Foggy Bottom, which is the part of DC where the state department is. DC is a cool city, but it’s not as fun as Boston. GW students party a lot more and the school has a bit of grade inflation, but they don’t have the school spirit. Only sport at GW is basketball and the students are pretty apathetic. As far as internship opportunities go, I would not think they are better at GW than at BC at all. BC is more respected in both DC and Boston than GW is (BC helped me out a lot with getting an internship in DC this year). BC also has a strong pre-med program. GW has more gay and Jewish students than BC does, but if you are either you shouldn’t have trouble fitting in either place. The only advantage I would really give to GW would be the money, but you are honestly probably better going to an in-state school and paying a lot less than GW than going to GW and getting that scholarship.

I did not apply to any in-state college… (really bad on my part). GW is one that gave me the most money on my list right now. With the scholarship and the financial aid, i think i only have to pay about 8-9k a year, which is not bad at all, considering GW is one of the most expensive schools in the country. Looks like you guys are all supporting the fact that Boston is better than DC in connections, and opportunities. I will def have to visit Boston and BC now… (cant believe i havent visited yet… i live like an hour away)
