ND's connections in the midwest, particularly Chicago are unbeatable. The student body's loyalty is astounding. For example, my next door neighbor went to ND undergrad and Harvard Law. Ask him where he went to school, Notre Dame will be your answer. Harvard means nothing to him. Notre Dame everything. I don't know of any school that has the type of alumni that will solely hire their own grads, or solely recruit on the campus of their school. ND is really like that.

Torn, ND's rep in the Chicago area is as you suggest; what I'm saying is that that does not hold true nationally. The other schools I listed also have their own share of fanatical alumni networking that I've both witnessed first-hand and collaborated from reading...i.e., one or two incidents does not a trend validate.

Esrajay...???

From what I have heard, the loyalty of Notre Dame alums is legendary. And not all of them played football, or might even have been football fans! There has to be something more to it than pride in an athletic team. The academics are first-rate and the feeling of community supposedly has to be experienced to be believed.

Honestly speaking, I loved my college & the education I received there, but i certainly could find things to be critical of, or that could be done better; I don't think you ever hear a Notre Dame alum speak that way regarding their college.
