BC questions

Hi,

I’m considering BC as one of my top options right now for either the BS in Carroll (emphasis in CS) or BS in CS (concentration in the Business of Computing) and had several questions regarding the program(s) and BC as a whole.

  1. Where do a lot of graduates from either end up working in both the CS programs and Carroll undergrad? I’ve heard everything from Wall Street, tech companies, consulting, etc. (all of which I’m fine with) as well as the lack of those things. Can anyone provide statistics or personal experiences with these programs?

  2. How do the two programs compare to each other and to other CS and pre-business programs in Boston/East Coast? Compared to BU, Tufts, and NEU specifically.

  3. How prestigious is BC in the scope of the country? It’s not listed on the “Top Universities” by CC, but USNWR rates it 31 nationally. However, I do believe rankings are bogus (in theory) so I would rather like to get an honest evaluation from people who go to BC or know enough about it. I’ve heard both the CS and Business programs are well regarded in the scope of the college.

  4. BC was rated among the most entrepreneurial colleges in the country. How true is this? Are as many startups coming from BC as other Boston-area colleges like Brandeis, Tufts, NEU, and BU? I know it probably doesn’t even hold a candle to MIT or Harvard.

Other than those things, if you can provide any information about nightlife, the party scene, and religious involvement among students, especially since it’s a Catholic school (I’m not Catholic), it would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Given you’re just entering your sophomore year of high school, don’t you think it would be good to wait till your junior year? I say that because your questions all center around “What will BC do for me?” Hopefully, by your junior year you’ll understand why you really should be asking: “What can I do for BC?”

Heres a good link to things to do near BC, and some quotes from students, hope it helps http://www.daytripper365.com/collegetrips/2015/8/10/boston-college

Thank you @Elizabeth1 !
