I’ve heard about BC and Tuft’s program wheres sophomores at BC at the end of the year can apply for guaranteed admission to Tufts medical school upon completion of their undergrad degree. Can someone please give me more details, such as how many people apply and how many are usually accepted, and perhaps some other details?

That is true and here is more info on that with the link—

"Under an agreement with Tufts University School of Medicine (Boston), sophomores may apply for early acceptance to Tufts Medical School. Students who are accepted would remain at Boston College to complete their junior and senior years, with an invitation in hand to attend Tufts Med after graduating from Boston College.

This B.C./Tufts B.A./M.D. early acceptance program potentially allows premedical students to more easily pursue a more diversified curriculum during their final two years at Boston College without the pressures normally associated with applying to medical school.

This special program is available only to sophomores who have completed two semesters of Biology with lab, two semesters of General Chemistry with lab, and one semester of Organic Chemistry with lab. Applicants are required to have a minimum GPA, both overall and in the sciences, of at least 3.5. Students are encouraged to have acquired some experience in a health care setting (click here for some suggestions). At the time of application (sophomore year), the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) is not required."

Anybody know how many people apply each year and how many are accepted?

Bump 10char

Not many apply (~20 each year), but it requires a 3.8+ science gpa to be competitive. Thus, even tho the minimum requirement is a 3.5, an unhooked candidate would be wasting his/her time if that was their gpa. Moreover, the program requires taking Chem & Bio frosh year, which is now an even more difficult lab pairing (since the Bio dept. changed it’s lab sequencing).

Nearly all BC applicants are interviewed.

PS An applicant could also double Bio & Organic Chem in the second year, but that too, is a difficult lab pairing. But note, with s-gpa of 3.7+, BC students will be competitive to other med schools. As a private school, Tufts is expensive, particularly if you have instate publics available at lower cost, and where you would be competitive.
