BC v/S Indiana

My son got acceptance to both BC (Carroll) and Indiana (Kelley). We are in the process of making a decision one way or other. Will like to hear from people out there some frank opinions for both schools. we love both of them.

Several factors to consider!

Cost

Indiana would be less expensive, especially if you received any of the generous merit scholarships.

Location

Midwest vs Northeast! Recruiting for Kelly tends to be more Chicago and Midwest while Carroll is very Boston and Northeast. Boston is a great city that is easy to fly into while Bloomington not so much.

Size

Kelly is much larger than Carroll!

Both schools are beautiful and loaded with school spirit.

Thx for the reply. yes we are looking into all these points.

we are Asian. I know that Asian % is very low at Boston. Is this something we need to be worried ab?

I always scratch my head when I see such posts. (In other words, have you looked at the % of Asians at IU? Hint: 4%, which is less than half of that in Chestnut Hill.)

Regardless, the Asian community is a whole lot bigger in Boston than it will ever be in Bloomington.

Large public vs. mid-sized private = big diff.

IU 4-yr grad rate = 50% vs. ~90% at BC.

Lotsa good data to compare on IPEDS.

Primarily instaters (Indianans) vs. students from nearly all 50 states (but approx half NE).

Boston probably has more opportunities for internships. (But that is just a guess.)

Jesuit education is unique.

I have the same decision to make. I was accepted to Kelley/Hutton at IU and obviously CSOM at BC. For me, the choice is BC and its not particularly close.

JZ50 above gave a great answer. It depends on what you want. They are very different schools but both are excellent. I doubt that you will regret your choice, no matter which one you attend.

If you have a hard time deciding, then choose the one which will cost you less.
