BC vs. Miami

Hey guys, after all the chaos the past week or so I’m left with a number of rejections, waitlisted at UVA and acceptances from Miami, BC and W&M. I am a business major, likely in Finance, Marketing or Economics. I plan on remaining on the waitlist at UVA but cannot decide what my next best option is. I received a 29K/year presidential scholarship from Miami and love everything about the school (sports, weather, campus etc) but am worried that its academic reputation is below that of BC. At BC, I would likely be paying full price but I have been accepted into The Carroll School of Management Honors Program, a program that seems to have excellent opportunities and connections to employers post-graduation. Any insight as to which I should choose would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, congratulations on your acceptances!! I hope you have a great time wherever you go.

That being said, I think you should go to Miami! As my English teacher told me, college is what you make out of it. The scholarship you were awarded is proof that you are capable of succeeding in the future.

First, congratulations on acceptances to both schools!
Second, the choice is ultimately yours but if you feel so strongly about one school, Miami in this case, you should go there. If you go to BC just because it’s the most logical option, you probably won’t be happy because you’ll be wondering what would have been different if you had gone with your gut and attended Miami. Also, if you go to Miami you will have less loans to pay back and that will set you up nicely for the future. Although Miami’s business school isn’t as good as Boston College’s, you can achieve the same results if you are willing to put in the work. Ultimately, college is what you make of it, so you’ll succeed no matter where you go as long as you work for it. I wish you the best of luck in making your decision!

thanks millertime95 and ilikegucci, I see what you are saying and completely agree!
