Hi - My daughter has been accepted to both BC and Northeastern for Nursing! Northeastern gave her a great financial aid pckage. Assuming BC offers something similar (it will be out on Monday) which school should she choose?! She keeps flip flopping!! Loves the idea of co-op at Northeastern but also interested in the 5 yr RN/NP at BC… help us weigh her amazing options please…
It looks like Northeastern is in the lead.
Before you loose sleep wait and see the financial package first. I think she should go with which school and environment she likes best. The five year RN/NP she might change her mind as some nurses decide to work for a couple of years before they continue for a lot of reasons. Since nursing is such a pre-professional major she might want to bypass coop and enjoy a bit her student life. I mean there are pros and cons for both. I think the culture/fit of the two places is different. Doesn’t she have a preference?
The NCLEX pass rates are close, BC 94%, NE 91%. My own personal opinion is that nurses should work for at least 2 yrs before going on for APRN. They need floor and critical care experience. It will make them a much better nurse.
Both are amazing, I’d go to whichever campus environment you prefer!
Wait until you get both financial packages – the answer may become obvious.
