I’ve been accepted to these three schools with the Honors Program at BC and was wondering which would lead to a great grad school and provide the best academics. Financially, they all gave me great deals so that is not an issue.

I would like to double major in physics and CS so the school with the best science department is what I would lean towards. I am also a violinist and trumpeter and play varsity golf so activities in these areas would be important too.
I already attended the welcome days for BC and Fordham (NE this Saturday) and from that I’m leaning towards BC but I’m still unsure. Thanks!

If money is not an issue for you, and your only criterion is “the best academics,” then it should be BC.

And being accepted into the honors program only reinforces that choice.

Even though it’s a small program, BC physics is ranked in the mid-40’s nationally, which IMO, is excellent for a liberal arts given that the competition includes MIT, Caltech, HYPS et al. Dunno much about BC’s Comp Sci.

OTOH, BC is d1, so unless you are really good, golf would have to be club. There is a golf course within walking distance that many students play at.

Do you think BC is too liberal for a student seeking valuable undergraduate research opportunities? Would the better academics be worth it over Northeastern’s co-op programs?

Negative. BC has excellent on-campus research opportunities. Look up some of the departments – most all offer research, some even with $ during the school year/and summer. Personally, I’m a big fan of BC and would recommend it over NEU in most academic areas. (BC doesn’t do engineering.)

Just be aware of the length of the co-op program – NEU only started a 4-year grad program recently. Otherwise, it was a 5-year plan.

So would succeeding at BC help me get into a good grad school? I’m looking to apply to the top programs for physics so I can become a professor.
