BC vs NYU

Hrmmm which one. I wanna do business but am having trouble deciding between the two. BC gave 14K vs NYU which gave 10K. I know NYU Stern is highly regarded, but is it significant at the undergrad level? The lack of campus at NYU may bother me, but I’m still unsure. Any advice?

yes, go to nyu, that should be an easy choice

I'm on waitlist at BC, but already accepted into NYU. If I get into BC i would definitely go there considering my need for a campus with grass....to know that I'm still on the same earth as everyone else. But I'm not in a stern so i guess this is your call. Have you visited both?

only NYU, im visiting Boston in 2 weeks. Yeah, I may need that green too. but i cant just pass up stern. Idk. Confused

I got into Stern and BC as well. I'm probably going to end up going to WashU, but if not, I'd go to BC over NYU. Rankings are important, but it is nice to feel at home when you're in college. I've always lived in a rather small town, and I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable being in a huge city 24/7.

Our d got into both, picked BC--loves it!!!!!!!! campus, spirit, sports, Boston, safer area, etc. NO regrets! plus Carroll School of Management has been getting more and more high marks and great press. good luck with your decision!

My son got into both but is going to BC. The big reason is because we live in NYC and he really wants to go away.

hmm...idk...im so confused. Hopefully the trips to NYU and BC will help me make a clear decision. Thank you all for your help.

I am in a similar situation, and having a very difficult time trying to pick between NYU and BC. There are things I like and dislike about both schools, despite the fact that they're very different. I'm visiting NYU on friday so hopefully that will help...

jazzx10, I'm fairly confident that I will choose Stern. It was a very hard decision though. I love the city but I also love BC's campus. BC's campus is simply the most beautiful I've ever visited. Boston has a great feel to it, but NYC will always be NYC. In the end, I will probably choose Stern because of academics, as I wish to major in Finance.

stern definitely, stern is top 10 for business and plus, great connections. if you hates it, im so sure it'll be a breeze to transfer back to bc as long as you maintains a gd gpa

Yeah, I was also considering that, but I don't want to be that kid that transfers. In other words, I want to finish in 4 years if possible lol.

According to my research, BC’s undergraduate business program is much better than NYU. BC also got a much higher rank than NYU by Bloomberg. BC faculties are focused on teaching undergraduate students. I got a chance to watch a NYU’s professor speaking on TV. His English can be barely understood!

The OP is long gone. The post was from 2005

Each undergrad business school has different strengths. For west coast jobs or entrepreneurship USC may be a good choice. For wall street jobs Penn and NYU grads have the most success. I would suspect that BC and BU would be top picks for entry level jobs in New England. Global Universities like Penn, SC, NYU often have foreign born faculty who are tops in their field.

Yes the OP is long gone.
