BC vs. UW-Madison

I am solely wondering about education quality, and plan to major in biology/biochemistry (with hopeful plans to become involved in research as an undergrad). I was brought up in Wisconsin so I’ve always been told how amazing these programs are at Madison, but Boston College is definitely my first choice at this point so I’d really appreciate an outside perspective on the subject! Thanks so much!

help please! :)

Are you still in-state in Wisconsin? If so UW may be a better value. In the sciences, BC is strongest in chemistry, but has recently revamped its biology program which now offers opportunities for real research to underclassmen. So thats great but I imagine as a larger research university UW is very solid as well.

I am in state, but I got a really amazing financial aid package from BC that completely covers tuition and some of housing. I calculated it out and the two would have virtually the same price-tag after 4 years. At this point I am completely leaning towards BC, but the quality of the education is of course the deciding factor! Thanks for the reply!

A great financial package like that does make it tempting. I mean BC provides a very, very high quality of education. If you do well undergrad at BC it is respected enough to open up all kinds of opportunities. If you want a different experience than your state public U (even though its a great one) I would go for BC.

And also call admissions and have them put you in touch with key leaders in those departments - ask them detailed questions.
