hey can anyone help?
i got accepted into both early action but can’t decide which school i would rather attened. It would be great if people could tell me their opinions of the schools.

thanks
and by the way my mom went to BC and my dad went to Nova, only making the decision more difficult.

Academics: Relatively comparable.
Prestige: BC
Location: BC
Weather:...I would say Pennsylvania has better weather than New England.
Financial Aids: Don't know.
Sports: BC
Campus: BC

Reddune, I think I might have to disagree with a few of your rankings.

Academics: True, is relatively comparable. Prestige: **Depends on location. New England=BC, Rust Belt=Nova, Outside either area, the same.
**Location: **Tie. Both Boston and Philly are major cities and offer the same things. Although as a native Bostonian, I would have to say Boston kicks a. However, I'm trying not to be biased. An outsider would see this as a tie. Weather: **Agree, Nova takes this category.
**Financial Aid: BC. Nova is ranked #17 for students least happy with financial aid. Sports: **BC. No explanation needed unless all you care about is BBall. In that case Nova takes the prize. But overall, BC hands down.
**Campus: Tie. Both are beautiful and up-to-date. However BC is much more cramped and the Newton Campus is a slight drawback. Nova is much more spread out, has all of the landscape offerings of BC, and is also a national arboretum.

BC: 2W-1L-4T Nova: 1W-2L-4T

Pretty damn close. It all depends on where you feel you would fit better. Visit both schools again and again until you can call one of them home.

i had the same decision to make 2 years ago. i went back and forth constantly between december and april and finally decided on BC. either choice is really great.

my final reason was becuase i wanted to do something "crazy" and seperate myself from my jersey-town bubble. i liked how BC had a little bit more of a national draw and geographic diversity.

sports are incredible at both, but i have to admit that nova cannot compare to bc football. both campuses are absolutely beautiful and the housing is nice. i would say that location wise bc is better just because we are so close to boston and boston is a nicer city than philly. academics are pretty equal. both have great business schools if thats what youre going into.

go with your gut feeling, you really cant go wrong

I would actually say that BC has better academics, if you look at the SAT scores for BC and the GPA they are much higher. I know that only accounts for the students entering and not the academics themselves, but that plays a difference.

If you think about it, most kids make Villanova their safety if they are applying to BC.

But I would choose BC because of the town, the sports and the overall atmosphere. However, if diversity is really important to you, then Villanova might be a better choice. I've heard that BC is trying to work on their's though.

okay i still can't choose
i went to accepted candidate days for both and that did not help, it only made it worse.
if i go to bc i would be a physics major (no eginering)
if i go to nova i would go for some sort of enginering (physics department sucks)
I don't know weather i would rather be a physics major of an enginering major.

i just have no idea which path i want to take.
please give me any advice and suggestions you have.
thanks

Would be interested to hear your impressions after doing both accepted student days. How were they? What were pros/cons of each now that you've just visited them? Sometimes listing pros/cons and giving each a numerical score, it will come clear which is your favorite. Otherwise you'll just have to listen closely to your gut. You must ultimately make the decision since you will live with it for 4 years. Rest assured, you have 2 great choices! (OR...is their a 3rd school you are waiting to hear from that will break the tie?)

i am also caught between the two. the admitted day at nova was nicer and i am intheir biz school whereas i am a & s at bc. i love the big sports at bc but the weather is really cold. from new jersey. any advice would be great im planning on grad school if that helps and am looking for business and math

Both are very similiar in nature - more affluent, preppy student body. A person will do wel for themselves attending either school. Maybe you should make the decision based on practical things like total final cost to attend, travel/commuting hassles from your home, etc.
Good luck!

my son, national merit finalist, lived overseas with us for 10 years, aimed high, waitlisted at amherst, pomona, and georgetown... only accepted to bc...having the time of his life. Great sense of community, great after-grad network, and IN BOSTON.

^^^ chili pepper I agree wholeheartedly. D graduated last Spring. Like your S, she had impressive high school credentials and chose to attend BC. At the time, H & I were a little skeptical, but we now agree that it was money well spent. She had the time of her life there, all the while growing academically, professionally, and personally. We couldn't have asked for a more complete college experience.
