seriously what is your opinion? idk which to choose!

BC hands down.

I applied to BC and Wake, and I’ve seen both. They both have gorgeous campuses & great sports teams. I liked Wake better, though, and I will probably be attending. They’re both great schools – either one is a good choice.

As a prewarning, though, if you aren’t from the area – Boston is COLD. Boston gets a good amount of snow. Winston-Salem is much warmer (14+ hours south of Boston).

Wake hands down… I think BC has reached its peak while Wake is on the rise

They are great schools in two very different settings. BC in Boston is much more urban with all the opportunities of being in that environment. It’s Boston, after all! A friend of D’s who went to BC fell in love with Boston after being raised in a large southern city.

Wake is a great school in a smallish city. It’s lovely but a very different type of place.
A different friend of D’s went to Wake and loved the school, but Winston-Salem–not so much. That said, she never regretted her decision.

I would go with BC for multiple reasons. First off BC has broad name recognition, whenever you are dealing with a sports school like BC, Villanova, USC, Duke, etc. that are equally well known for thier academics you can’t go wrong. Secondly, Boston>Winston-Salem. Thirdly, BC is more well rounded in thier academic programs and has ridiculous resources at their disposal.

In response to a few comments –

You also much realize that BC isn’t actually IN Boston. It’s in Chesnut Hill I believe. Boston is only like 10-20 minutes away by car, but by train I have been told that it is roughly 45 minutes away. My tour guide told me that underclassmen don’t really go into Boston much.

Chesnut Hill is very suburban.

I believe that academically the schools are about the same. They really do have many of the same qualities.

Good luck in deciding on a school!

“It’s in Chesnut Hill I believe. Boston is only like 10-20 minutes away by car”

To me, that’s exactly what makes BC great. It’s set in a very nice neighborhood southwest of Boston, but Boston is close enough to get to easily. Once you can start having a car, or start living in the city junior year, I think BC becomes far better.
For one, BC is, as someone said, an extremely rich school who is always building and improving the campus. Second, the campus is very nice, food isn’t bad, academic programs are great. And third, Boston is a great college city with tons of stuff to do within 2 hours (skiing/red sox/beach).

These are equals. I would opt fo BC based on location IF the financial packages were the same.

Ugh, bad spelling. Oops. :X

*Chestnut Hill.

WFU meets full demonstrated need, but they are quite loan-heavy. Their package would be very favorable if a student gets a combination of a scholarship/financial aid package. They offer a lot of scholarships, but they are very vague on the requirements to receive them.

I would go with Wake Forest. Im from MA and BC has a snobbish stigma attached to it. I remember a few of my class mates that were accepted into BC and they were you’re typical preppy partying type and quite frankly aren’t to impressive.

You’ll find those type of kids anywhere. Perhaps you are referring to Princeton?
