Bcs?

After that decisive victory, is a BCS in the offing? Either way, the Blue are playing very well, crushing a Cornhusker team that whipped MSU and beat PSU on the road. I like Toussanint with another big game (138 yds); a 41:13 time of possession and the 3-1 turnover ratio.

It is a distinct possibility. Michigan is one of the top 5 programs and if they can somehow finish 10-2, they should be ranked among the top 15 in the BCS which would automatically make them eligible for BCS consideration. The likelyhood of choosing Michigan over the Big 10 runner up is certainly quite high.

That was the most satisfying win in recent memory. With Brady Hoke, our future looks bright.

We’re absolutely going to a BCS bowl if we beat Ohio next week. We’re 18th in the BCS standings right now and we’ll go up at least by one spot because we beat Nebraska. I think Kansas State’s also gonna lose this week so if they do, they’ll drop below us as well. All we need to do is get to 14th in the BCS standings and MSU, after they get destroyed in Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship game, will drop below us as well. I’m sure another team will also get upset or beat that’s currently above us so we will for sure get an at large bid.

If Big Blue beats The Ohio next week then we will be the only team in the B1G other than the Dec 3 winner with two losses. Everyone else will have 3 or more including the loser of Dec 3. They will not take a 3 loss team as an at large bcs so it will be U-M or no at large team from the B1G. They will want a team from the B1G for tv ratings and ticket sales. After today, we will definitely be hungry next week. Nothing would be better than to destroy Ohio and send them to the Pizza Bowl.

good point res ipsa. I’m only worried that U-M will only move up one spot to 17 in BCS tonight. While 4 top teams lost, none of them will likely fall below U-M (maybe Clemson will). Hopefully U-M will climb to at least 16 by passing up Georgia too who wasn’t overly impressive in a home win over Kentucky.

Although it is true that Michigan will likely not climb more than 1 or 2 spots this week, much football remains to be played.

For example, eventually, either Michigan State or Wisconsin will drop below Michigan. If Wisconsin beats PSU next week, they will face MSU in the championship game and the loser will drop lower than Michigan. If Wisconsin loses to PSU next week, they will drop below Michigan.

Also, Clemson plays South Carolina next week. One of those will drop below Michigan.

I think it will be close, but if Michigan takes care of business, I think they will be ranked #14 or higher come December 10.

“I think it will be close, but if Michigan takes care of business, I think they will be ranked #14 or higher come December 10.”

Without a doubt. The media is already projecting Michigan as a candidate for the Sugar and Fiesta Bowls.

The key phrase is “if Michigan takes care of business”. We need to keep the focus on the Ohio.

^That was the subject line of the season when it started, so I’ll be damned if we aren’t.

Just jumped to 15 in the rankings, bypassing Wisconsin and one behind MSU.

I would be very surprised if Michigan looked past OSU. 7 straight losses should give Michigan plenty of motivation. Not a single player on this team ever sniffed victory over the Bucknutts!

**** OHIO

10char

Well - it may be tight. Now down one to 16 in the BCS after Wisconsin jumped Michigan. Now, the loser of Mich St and Wisc will drop below Michigan and Georgia should as long as the don’t play LSU real close. I could also see KS St. losing to Iowa St. But, it would be possible for Clemson to jump ahead of Michigan with a win over Virg Tech (w/o Virg Tech dropping below Michigan). Prediction would be # 14 jumping ahead of Mich St. and Georgia.

I am surprised that Michigan is the lowest ranked 2-loss team. Our losses were by relatively small margins and our last two games were pretty significant wins.

Either way, assuming there are no surprises next weekend, Michigan should be ranked #14 in the final BCS poll. I have my fingers crossed!

Most predictions are showing Michigan #14 and possibly being put into the Sugar Bowl. Hopefully those predictions are true :D

The only way Michigan remains outside of the top 14 is if Georgia upsets LSU.

Even if Clemson beats VTech, they will be ranked lower than Michigan as the gap between those two schools is too great to close…unless Clemson wins in a blowout, which is not likely.

If baylor beats no.22 Texas, they could jump us (our BCS scorings are awefully close). The computer rankings are giving Big 12 a lot of weight.

If Oklahoma loses to Oklahoma State, Michigan overtakes them. Even Oklahoma State, which is ranked #3 in the BCS poll, could drop significantly of they lose to Oklahoma because they would have ended their season with two straight losses.

In short, there is much football left to be played and the odds of Michigan reaching the #14 theshold are good.

are you suggesting that Oklahoma State would get jumped by Michigan if Oklahoma State loses (and would actually drop 12 spots)?

Yes Blah, it is possible, although it is admitedly unlikely. I think many polsters will favor a 10-2 Michigan team that ended its season by destroying Nebraska and beating Ohio State than a 10-2 Oklahoma State team that ended its season by losing to Iowa State and Oklahoma. I am not saying it will definitely happen, but there is a remote possibility that it will.
