Basic Squadrons contain 4 flights, each flight corresponding to one of the squadrons in the cadet wing. So Aggressors A Flight would be CS-1. B flight would be CS-2, C flight C3-3, D flight CS-4. And then it just starts over with Barbarians, with A flight going into CS-5. And then the pattern just continues. So Demons A Flight will be 13 (My squad next year!), B flight CS-14, and C flight CS-15.

at least last year, there was a table before you officailly started inproccessing which told you your BCT squad and your academic squad, so u can tell your parents if you so choose.

Uh, you will want your parents to know for sure so they can write you during BASIC. You will crave those letters, believe me! and we will love receiving them! Parents can see pics of you guys going through BAIC and will examine everyone posted on the web to find you! My son actually got filmed several times which was awsome for us.

i don't beleive you have to know the squad to send mail during basic. you just need the PO box. even in jack's valley, they get you your mail even if its just the PO Box on there

Mike's right, all the mail runs through the mail room, none of it is funneled through the squadrons. Parents need to send the amil through the PO box and when the basics go down to the mail room, they will just grab their mail out of their box. In jacks, it will be delivered to individual squadrons and will be sorted prior to your cadet getting the mail.

While we're on the subject of mail, is there is a special way we have to address the mail? I would like to have a bunch of envelopes preprinted up for family and friends to pass out at my son's grad party.

You can really just put your name, but if you're concerned you can put Basic Cadet "Your Name" instead.

Also make sure it's addressed to USAF Academy, not Colorado Springs.

In the booklet I got (Instructions to Appointees) , it says to put it like this:
Basic Cadet (first and last name)
P O Box (Number on front of booklet)
USAF Academy CO 80841

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info!

i know it helped me getting lots of mail, so if you want, here's a tip. pre-adress envelopes to yourself and maybe even stmap them, and give them to firends. then its a lot easier for them to write. i would pre-adderss ones home to, and to whoever u want to write to, and bring those (you can have your own envelopes and paper, they will just search for pics and contraband before you can keep it)

My parents kept sending pictures of "me" during BCT. I think about 2/40 were actually me. (then, I had to get rid of them, because they were contraband)

I gave my address to many friends and I was always thrilled when they sent me mail. I felt better being able to hear about normal life (not always the case for people). I also found time to write back. I wrote a lot in BCT, but I'm so glad I did.

I am just going to have anyone that wants a response include an addressed and stamped envelope for me to write them, lol

You are all correct but here's a tip. If you put the Basic's squad number and Flight # on it while at Jack's valley, the cadre who sort it have an easier time of it and will appreciate it. Now you don't have to do this but.... ;)

and make sure they send plain white envelopes, unless you prefer to have extra personal time with your cadre ;)
