Be an Adcom! Would you accept me? :)

Of course there is a possibility, but I don’t think that it is a “good possibility” (again assuming your essays are “solid”) I seriously would be surprised if you are not attending Dartmouth next year. And even if you think so, don’t worry. There is nothing you can do now and worrying will only make you more stressed, unhappy, etc.

I appreciate the advice, man. I will do my best to look at it as optimistically as possible. :)

Wow. Your stats make me regret applying to Dartmouth. haha

OP–

Very nice set of accomplishments–congratulations. The only concern I have about your admissions prospects to Dartmouth is yield protection, a practice that schools like Tufts and WUSTL are accused of doing. If the Dartmouth ad coms think that you are really aiming Caltech/MIT, they might defer you to see if you are really interested in Dartmouth. Unfortunately, Dartmouth does not have much of a Common App supplement that allows you to really express your interest in the school.

But I think that you are certainly worthy of admission, looking strictly at your resume and not thinking about gamesmanship in the system.

^he applied ED, so if he gets in he has to go. So there is no point in Dartmouth rejecting him, if they want him.

I see your logic, UT84321, but like xrednailpolish mentioned, I AM applying ED, so I have given up everything to go to Dartmouth, including any chances I would have at MIT or Caltech. If this was Early ACTION, now, I think you have an excellent point. Are my stats really THAT good for them to think that?! I think you guys have more confidence in me than I do! :stuck_out_tongue: haha.

well good job
what other schools are you interested in?

Dartmouth is my top choice…but I hope for Cornell or MIT if I don’t get into Dartmouth. I just really want to get in ED to Dartmouth, so that’s all I am hoping for right now :)

i am 99.9 percent sure you’re going to get into Dartmouth. The only way you wouldn’t is

A. If you sounded like an arrogant prick in your common app essay/interview.
B. You teachers secretly despise you and wrote terrible recommendations.

Even WITH those things, admission to Dartmouth is still possible. You have one of the most legit resumes I have ever seen. If we both get in ED to Dartmouth, I’d honestly love to meet you.

I only read half your stats and I admitted you. Good luck!!!

Dartmouth published admission stats for the class of 2014 late last week. SAT scores are up 10 points per section. Perhaps this is because Dartmouth is weighting test scores more heavily. Still high test scores are no guarantee. Only 34.4% of applicants with 800 CR were accepted; only 20.8% for 800 Math.

Guys, thank you all so much for taking the time to make me feel less stressed about this  You guys all think I have a pretty good chance of getting in, even though I myself cannot give myself too much confidence :stuck_out_tongue: haha. Let’s just hope for the best! :)

DUDDE. I SAW YOU ON DISCOVER DARTMOUTH!
I don’t think it’s a cowinkydink but idk, it could be…

Haha that’s me ;)

Hey, I got a question: How will we find out if we got admitted or not? Is it through email? By mail? Or through the “Check your status” page on the Dartmouth Admissions website?
Thanks! :)

I would go ahead and order a Dartmouth sweatshirt! Congrats I think you will have no problem being accepted. And it’s nice to see someone actually picking a school because they like it and feel the fit, not because they are being swayed by anyone… I respect that. I am the same way out my first choice I am applying to Penn and I love it more than any place I’ve seen so I can relate…you just have a gut feeling when you know it’s the right place for you. I just wish my stats were as good as yours!

OP, are you sure you don’t prefer Princeton over Dartmouth? I have a slight feeling you might, given the similarities of the two schools.

Pranam, namaste!
Very good application of yours there. I’d be very surprised if you don’t get accepted. Your AP’s are especially eye catching.

 • An Indian from India.

…the OP already applied. Why do people keep asking him if he prefers another school over Dartmouth? Either he does prefer other schools over Dartmouth (and is therefore a complete moron), or Dartmouth is his top choice. Given his stats, I’m inclined to believe he’s not a complete moron, so it seems pretty clear that Dartmouth is in fact his top choice.

Why is that so hard to believe?

For those who have a hard time wrapping their minds around the OP’s (laudable) decision, know that there are plenty of people here who chose Dartmouth over one of HYPSM. I, for one, chose it over YPS.

@LN1281 - Thank you so much! I sure hope that your confidence in me pays off come December 15th! Good luck with the Penn admission! Yes, Dartmouth is the place for me! My stats aren’t THAT good…I’m sure you have very commendable ones! :)

@iPacman - I’ve never really been interested in Princeton at all. My heart is set on Dartmouth, and it has been for a while. I think I would fit in better as a Big Green than as a Tiger. ;)

@perfectpixie - Namaste to you, too  Yes, I am Indian, and though I know that personal characteristic won’t help me any in the admissions process, I have learned that there are many talented Indians out there! And I am sure you are one of them! Thank you for the vote of confidence! Yes, the 11 AP’s by junior year were definitely grueling, but they were all worth it in the end. :)

@DartmouthForever - Thank you for that, my friend. For some reason, people have had a hard time believing that Dartmouth was my absolutely #1 choice. I think it is the most wonderful school I know, and I would love to don the Green of Dartmouth! There is a reason why I applied ED! haha. Why else would I give up any chance at going to another school for Dartmouth? :)
