Sure there is discrimination, racism and inequality but where else in the world would a Black and a woman have a reasonable chance of winning the presidency?

Racism, racial profiling, racial harassment, exists in europe, south america, asia, africa, and anywhere you want to name, even if in so called subtle ways.

well cmon, seriously, there isnt a place TOTALLY void of racism. there’ll definitely be a handful of those idiots.

“Sure there is discrimination, racism and inequality but where else in the world would a Black and a woman have a reasonable chance of winning the presidency?”

“Try to find another country whose political establishment is as diverse and varied.”

I think this depends on the racial and national diversity of the society in general. No other country (I believe?) is as diverse on that aspect as is USA so by the rule of distribution, you’d expect a member of each race or minority to have its place in politics. However, the fact remains that the most US politicians are still white men :D

seriously guys, no country is perfect in every way, there might be prejudices in america but that’s not just america… i’ve lived in germany and australia and therefore i can tell that there is definitly the same situation in both countries… in germany mainly against turkish /arabic/eastern european and in australia its the same with the asians and aboriginees (hope i spelled them correctly…)… you cannot just give general statments like: oh don’t go to college in america, there are only racists at certain colleges…

btw: do you think stating my ethnicity as aryan will boost my chances for college admission?^^ (JUST A JOKE…)

While racism is far more prevalent in the US than in other countries, it is a global phenomenon not exclusively confined to North America. Moreover, its existence shouldn’t be the deterrent that dissuades from applying to colleges in a particular continent.

definitely agree with you. seriously guys, nowhere is perfect. i have lived in germany for abit and somewhat witnessed racism, but not as rampant as everyone makes it out to be. like what i posted earlier, there will always be a handful of racist idiots. ignore them.

and dude, please dont ever put your ethnicity as aryan. they wont accept you ever. YOU NAZI FREAK!!! GET OUT!!!

…joke, it wont matter really. hope you dont mind thats about the best example i could give really.

of course there will be racism in north america as it will be everywhere on the planet(even Antartica :P)…

but you can’t quote examples of people in high places to prove that racism does not exist in America or Germany or any other places…

taking the example of my country… Pakistan… Women are not normally given their rights by society… repressive society.. but we have had a women prime minister twice in our short 60 years of existence… cuz higher up, where people are more educated and more exposed to be racist. But its the ground level where things mess up… your college ‘buddies’ who will have be looking to have a go at someone, and will do it to you cuz you are not white etc…
