Be Careful!

For those of you submitting your apps, be very careful. Look over your PDF preview closely, and print it out. Be especially vigilant on the the writing supplements. My writing supplement to Stanford was a wreck. There were footers overlaid over one essay, and one of the other essays was cut off mid-page, losing at least half. Stanford said it is CA's fault/issue. I have a ticket in with CA to get it fixed, but just be aware.

I had similar issues at the additional information part. Home CA fix it soon.

I had sent the same issue couple of days back to the Support team and haven’t heard anything yet either. I referred this thread on the ticket when I sent them the reminder.

I haven’t heard anything today. I wish they would fix it!

OK–I found the cure, no thanks to CA support. Simple things like writing “Dear _,” or ending with “Regards, _” can make the format all wonky. Try messing with your essay format. Make it all one paragraph or remove bits and pieces like commas and breaks. Eventually you will get the right combo that puts it on the PDF preview in the correct manner. For me, I could not end it with my name on a single line(as you would end a letter). That would completely mess it up. Move my name to to the end of the previous sentence, and BAM, everything perfect.

Thanks because that information will be helpful.

So you can’t have separate paragraphs in the essay?

Common App really sucks this year. What email did you guys use for emailing them? I want to complain about something

You can, but just make sure the PDF preview is correct before you submit. You can edit after the preview. In this particular case, the essay is a “Dear Roommate” letter, so you would expect to put a greeting and sign off with your name. Unfortunately, that causes many issues. I am sure every school’s supplement will be different. Just make sure you take a good look at the print preview before sending.
