Be completely honest...

Ok, so I know lots of people ask questions of this nature but I really need some feedback.

I applied to Dartmouth, Cornell, Northwestern, Stanford, U Penn, and Harvard and I want to know what I should expect given my credentials. (Will I get in to any of these schools?)

I have a 3.9 GPA (unweighted)
Top 1% of class of 623 (weighted)
I've taken the hardest classes offered by my school (my school doesnt offer very many AP courses but i've taken Chem and Calc and all other advanced courses)
I got a 33 on the ACT; 10 on the writing
My extra curriculars: Varsity Tennis, School Musical, Chamber Choir, National Honor Society, Student Government, Journalism Intern, Saxophone Quartet, Many honor bands, all state choir, volunteering at nursing home and hospital, cultural involvement

I think my college essay is pretty strong if that counts for anything. But anyways, what do you all think?

Good Chances Except Harvard, Stanford, UPenn(Wharton){Harder for These}. Thats good chances if you hold leadership positions in your extra-curriculars which means the world to college admission. Good Luck

All of the schools you applied to have very low admissions rates. While you may have as good a chance as any other applicant, since you appear qualified, that still doesn't give you more than a 10-20% chance of acceptance.

I hope you've applied to some more realistic (*i.e.*less selective) schools and some safety schools.

Dartmouth: Reach
Cornell: Slight Reach
Northwestern: Slight Reach
Stanford: Super Reach
U Penn: Reach
Harvard: Super Reach

Good shot at Cornell and NU, but I think perhaps you need more schools of similar or slightly less selectivity to hedge the bet. I would add places like Rice, Middlebury, Emory, WashU just to hedge the bet (if its not too late).

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I applied to WashU as well...thanks for the posts so far... I appreciate your honesty. More posts would be much appreciated as well!

you're never guaranteed for the stupid Ivys, unless ur part of a legacy and a REALLY big priority on their list. but other than that, i say you have an ok chance of getting to some of those schools

Be sure to show real interest in WashU. They weigh interest very heavily, and if they think you're using it as a safety (the "oh, yeah, I applied here too" attitude), you very well may not get in.

academics wise, you seem pretty solid...but as the other posters have said the vast majority of applicants to the elite schools have equivalent, if not better stats...

your major problem is really the lack of a hook. i think that if you have excellent essays, recs and leadership positions, you stand a shot at HPS, and as for Cornell and Dartmouth you have a pretty good chance.
