Be Honest! Will I Get In?

  • Have taken all AP and pre-AP classes since freshman year

  • In a medical academy (I’ve been a mentor for 2 years)
  • In a leadership program (executed a Diversity Conference for my district)
  • Pre-baccalaureate trainee at UTHealth under the director of Infectious Diseases
  • Representative for an app (brighten)
  • Ambassador for Graduate4Mas
  • Volunteered at the VA for two years (in the summer) and shadowed neurosurgical residents and attendings
  • In golf and ran track for 4 years

Clubs:

  • NEHS (officer)
  • NHS
  • Key Club
  • UNICEF
  • Red Cross

It will depend upon your major. Looking at your background, I’m assuming biology or something similar to that. Unfortunately, your SAT score is probably just average and because you are not in the top 7%, it is much harder for you. If you are a URM or have another hook, that would increase your chances alot. You are in the top 10%, you have great ECs, you have been taking the harder classes. Everything except the SAT score is way above average. That being said, I think it will be a nail biter until February.

Do apply to other public schools because you are in that top 10% and they are all safeties for you. Good luck!

It increases your chances because UT is trying to expand its diversity of its student population. Part of the admission process is holistic and they look for good students that can bring something else to the university. It could be athletic, musical, another fine art skill or diversity among other things. Things that don’t show up in SAT scores or GPA but will enrich the experience of being at UT.
