I see that a ton of you that seem to suggest that your life does not allot any time for hanging out and doing things you genuinely WANT to do. Does your life revolve around school and college? Do you think that it's bad if it does/doesn't?

Nope, not at all. Maybe I’m just not as dedicated, I guess, to school as some? I mean, I hang out on weekdays too. But I don’t totally blow off school and college. And wanting to both do well in school and do things I want to do, helps a lot. For example, I finish my homework within a few hours after school because I’m so eager to go road biking with my friend.

I dunno, I don’t think you’re childhood should revolve school and studying and college. We’re kids after all. And we’re only this young once.

Totally. I just hope that some of those who do could give their opinions and try to see it our way

I have a lot of time to be social. I’m also ranked 2/404 in my school. I’ve never gotten a B. I have SAT scores well into the 2000s. But I still get to do all kinds of things that I want to do. I think you can have it both ways.

Nope. It’s an often interesting part of my life, and something I look into when I’m bored, but there are much more important things in life. I could live a fulfilling life if I quit all my classes, never graduated high school (I already have enough credits/requirements to, though, so I still would), didn’t go to college, and went off on my own.

@qdawg give examples and state how often you do those things. Just because you CAN doesn’t necessarily mean you do. I have no problem with saying that almost ALL of the top 20 in my school go out with friends like once a week. I don’t consider that as not having a life revolve around school ( I guess it depends on your definition of “having a life”)

@billymc I like your style

Hang out with friends: 3-5 times a week at least.
Plan big get-togethers: once a week.
Go to parties: once month, more often on breaks.
Go eat food with people: Practically every day. I spend so much money on food…

I mean, I do all the normal teenage stuff. Go to the mall, see movies, hit the beach, explore downtown…

Nice. I consider myself balanced like you but I barely made It into the top 20 ranks :P

I don’t spend as much time as most hanging out with friends, though this is due more to my introverted nature than to studying. I’m taking a full load of AP classes, but I usually just start homework in the evening and stay up late (or do homework during school). Afternoons are mainly either procrastinating on the internet or, maybe once a week, reading or working on an art/writing piece (which I guess falls under the category of things I genuinely want to do).

But you’re happy? That’s the most important thing: HAPPY and not just OK
