BE or EE?

Hi, sorry if this is a redundent topic, but I’m currently an enrolled freshman making my schedule at my (new) college. I’ve only recently discovered that my true passion is for bio and tech research, so I am looking to change my major from a BS in Comp Sci to Bio-Engineering, which is deffinetely everything I want out of college…
BUT
I keep hearing commentary and criticism that it isn’t good to specialize like this, and that I should do another type of general engineering like Electrical, because I will have less job opportunity. If this is true should I do electrical engineering with a minor in bio? I really love bio, and engineering, and see myself going to grad school or applying to medical school later, which I’m sure I’ll figure out later.
Anyway is this true? Is EE better, although I’ll have to put in the extra work of getting a bio minor?
Thank You

I’m generally one of those people who’ll tell you not to major in BioE because of the lack of job opportunities. However that advice is generally aimed towards people who are looking to get a job right out of undergrad. If you’re passionate about Bio and are sure that you want to go to grad/med school after undergrad then majoring in BioE should be OK.
As a side note, doing a major like EE because you “have to” probably won’t yield as good results as doing a major that you actually want to to.

Most people doing some sort of bio engineering as an undergrad are planning to go to med school rather than work as an engineer.

Generally, if you choose a more general engineering discipline, then you will have more options, but not the other way around.
