Be or not to be in a good US college????

I'm an International student, I came in the US in October and I'm still studying for the SAT and the TOEFL test. I would like to enter in a good engineering school with a strong mechanical engineering program. I've already done my college list, unfortunately I believe it is not completely finish, because I would like to add two school in which I know I will be taken for the next fall semester. My actual TOEFL score is 69 and the SAT score is C.R. 420 MATH 490 WRITING 300. I know that they are not enough to reach middle-high school level, but my study background is solid and with a good GPA.

if possible a school not involved in any religion. I prefer small medium school, in a temperate place near a city.

What school do you suggest to apply?

If your SAT improves to around 1800+, and your GPA is as strong as you say, you would have a good chance at the University of Minnesota. It has a strong engineering and accepts a large of amount of International Students (Both of my parents graduated there with Master degrees in Computer Science as international students).
