Beach towel as a gift - Tesalate towels?

Does anyone have a Tesalate towel and have an opinion on them? My ds has asked for a beach towel for Christmas. I have seen ads on FB for them. Just wondering if they are all that and a bag of chips.

Would you gift a regular towel or one of the doubles?

Here’s a review of various beach & pool towels, including the one you asked about.

I don’t have any personal experience. Please report back on what you decide and how well it works out for your recipients.

Looks like there is a Black Friday special: get a free workout towel with the purchase of a beach towel.

I have had LL Bean Beach towels. They have lasted through thick and thin. No experience with Tesalate…

We’ve had lands end beach towels forever, they’re thick and have held up well.

I got sucked into a Facebook add and got a few last summer. Advantages … they are not bulky (like 1/3 bulk of regular towel), easily it in a bag, nice selection of prints, and light weight to cover up with on a hot day.
Disadvantages… once wet, they are pretty soggy until they dry, they are really thin, almost like a chamois cloth.
All in all, I don’t regret the purchase but probably wouldn’t buy again

My D1 asked for a Sand Cloud beach towel for Christmas. I also got one for D2.

Thanks!

I looked at this brand as well. Thanks!

I bought 5 Turkish towels this past summer for our trip to Greece. We really liked them. We all used them as wraps on the plane. The girls tied them up like sarongs and other interesting bathing suit cover up styles. They rolled up small and light in our beach bags and dried quickly. We washed them without fabric softener and they would air dry quickly.

Ds chose one of the double-sized Tesalate towels. I hope he likes it. I had thought they were quick-drying, so @HedgehogCT ’s reply is a bit worrisome. I told him I’d buy him something different if he didn’t like it.

Where did you buy your Turkish towels. What, exactly, ARE Turkish towels??

I would like some quick-drying towels just to use for our regular bath towels. Would these fit the bill?

@Hoggirl Let us know what your S thinks of the Tesalate towel. The Sand Cloud towels I got for my daughters are also the double size. I’ll report back what they think of the towels. I did receive them and they certainly look and feel nice.

I think it is called La Hammam. I used them because 1) they were on sale, and 2) they shipped from NJ (we are in Philadelphia) and I knew we would receive them prior to our trip.

My girls liked the colors and patterns and that they were reversible. I think I checked the size of a Lands End towel for size comparison. Check the weight, too.

They feel completely different than the fluffy towels that I am used to. But, I tend to like thinner towels. You can easily pop them into a backpack or a bag. My girls use them at college to toss on the grass between class or daytrips to the beach.

I may look at them for bath towels when I get a chance.

edited to add that you can do a search on “best Turkish beach/towels 2021” and read about them. ( I know these lists can be subjective but it gave me a quick primer on what I was looking at. My friend had purchased some for her beach house and liked them, so I was interested.

This thread reminds me of last Christmas. D bought S a fluffy traditional beach towel from Costco. I bought him a thin microfiber & terrycloth beach towel that folded up very compactly. He preferred the compact towel for his kayaking. Saw it yesterday at Costco @$9.99.

Shipped to ds where he lives on the other coast. It has arrived, and he sent me a photo. It’s huge! (He got the double size). I asked if he liked it/what he thought, etc, and he replied, “It is awesome!” So, there ya’ go. Spendy, but sounds as though it was a winner
