Think I have a shot?

My dad graduated from Columbia College
Two uncles (one on my mom's side and one on my dad's side) went to Columbia as well.

Hope that should give me a little edge.

I think that your sat scores are on the low side on columbia's mid-range scores. But if you do well when you retake the test, then that will be settled. Why the three on AP U.S? I, as an admissions officer would wonder about that, especially if you recieved an A in the class. Everything else seems very impressive: high unweighted g.p.a and a salutatorian ranking. By the way, never underestimate the power of being a legacy candidate. Apply! and good luck!

Thank you for your encouraging words - I guess its not as long a shot as I thought it would be.

The 3 on my AP exam can be attributed to my school's horrible scheduling. I don't want to sound like a whiner but I had to take my AP test a day before the SATs. Is there any way I can contact an adcom about this?

That wasn't your school. The schedules are the same nation-wide. That's your fault for registering for the SAT the day after your AP.

What WOULD be the school's fault would be making Homecoming a week before the PSAT, the December and January dances the Fridays before the respective SATs, and Junior Prom the Friday before AP's start. Grr.

actually I'm fine with dances the night before SATS, take my mind off of studying and i'd be more relaxed at the test (of course if its the day before SATS I'm not going to hang out til 1 am after a dance...)
