I've got a thin beard. People tell me that it makes me look friendlier and warm, and a little rugged. I have two interviews so far (no rejections of 9 schools):
Baylor CofM/Neuroscience and Yale/BBS

Some people tell me to get rid of it, and go with a goatee - only. They say that it'll look like I'm not taking the interview seriously.

Others tell me that I would be crazy to shave my beard, because I look great with it, and, as long as I keep it well-trimmed, it doesn't look sloppy.

Thoughts?

The beard no beard issue will not affect your application (assuming your hygiene is appropriate!). Make your decision on your own style preferences.

That makes perfect sense, but I am having a hard time rejecting the advice of several current ivy league grad students in my field to shave it.

This really is not an issue. As long as it is trimmed and not all over the place, it makes no difference whatsoever. It seems like you are leaning towards shaving it, so just do it. I am sure you don’t look like a monster without it, and it will grow back fast enough.

I really don’t think it matters that much as long as it seems relatively neat.

Go beard power! A clean beard would make you look distinguished…

It will make absolutely no difference.
