Bears, Aggies, or Slugs? :)

As my last thread stated, I have to transfer from UCLA to a NorCal UC because my father is ill, and I need to take care of him. We live in San Francisco, so I have the three choices of UCB, UCD, and UCSC. All good options, in my humble opinion!

But what I'm wondering is: which is the best for an aspiring cinematographer/movie producer? I went to UCLA because of its great Hollywood connections, but since I unfortunately have to leave, what is my next best bet for film? Thanks for any information. :)

I’ve heard UCSC is a film program that includes production. UCB is only theory. I don’t know anything about UCD.

Based on rankings and proximity to SF - Cal.

Berkeley, if you want to live at home you can take the bart train

Well, if there are a lot of things you like better about UCD and UCSC, I wouldn’t discount them for UCB just yet. If UCB’s resources/film connections are significantly better, I’d consider it more if I were you, but so far (from what I’ve read at least), all three schools are pretty similar when it comes to film. UCD has a Production track that could give you the actual production experience, as does UCSC (according to SMCguy). San Francisco as a city probably has many more opportunities for film than do the cities of Davis or Santa Cruz, but then again, you could possibly be a big fish in a small pond at UCD or UCSC.
