Beat Coast Guard!

It all comes down to Thursday, April 30! The women's softball team will be playing the final game of the Superintendant's Trophy series, and the series is tied 6-6.

Go KP! Beat Coast Guard! You can do it! :) :)

USCGA is 34-4-1 in women’s softball. Maybe it will snow!

The CGA’s new pitcher is virtually unhittable. My daughter plays travel fast pitch softball and the girls on her team are amazed by the talent.

A 4th classwoman as well! Oh well, maybe she’ll have a bad day. If not, it’s seven in a row…

I didn’t realize she was “only” a 4/c – very impressive! I just read some about her background and it’s very touching – google her “Hayley Feindel” – great story.

That being said, GO KP!!! You’re right, nmlcfp, all pitchers have off days!

Think positive, people! We’ve been the underdogs before. ;)

It’s 4:40pm, anyone have a score yet on the KP-USCGA softball game yet? I went on the web site and there is no score posted yet.

Superintendent’s Trophy is a tie. Anyone have any idea what they are going to do?

KP split the series with USCGA, so the trophy end ends in a tie! So Luigi, what happens now, do they cut it in half?

Softball - Bears Split; Retain Superintendent’s Trophy

KINGS POINT, N.Y.—(4/30/09)—Freshman Hayley Feindel struck out a career-high 16 batters while scattering five singles as Coast Guard shutout Merchant Marine 3-0 in game two of a doubleheader after the Mariners beat the Bears 3-2 in the opener of a non-conference twin bill between the two rivals.

With the split, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine each finish with 6.5 points in the annual battle for the Superintendent’s Trophy which awards a point for each sport in which the two teams compete.

The Bears, who have never lost the trophy will retain it with the tie.

No fair!!! They should split that trophy half and half – 6 mos. and 6 mos. or two trophies being awarded.

To WIN the trophy, you must WIN the trophy.

PS - In the race for the Superintendent’s Trophy this year, KP had a 5-2 lead with 6 events to play, all they had to do is win 2 of them to WIN the Trophy!

Reminds of the Yankees- Red Sox ALCS in 2004.

You remember, when the Yanks had a 3-0 series lead and were winning Game 4 by the score of 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs. All they needed was one more out, but something else happened…

:D

Luigi, why didn’t the women play 3 games like the men? And why no USCGA lacrosse team?

Because they’re girls. Girl’s softball traditionally plays double-headers, not just USMMA against the USCGA, but every team they play.

On the contrary, there is a very robust lacrosse program at USCGA.

Lacrosse (Men’s and Women’s) is a club sport at USCGA, not an official IC sport.

The [USCGA Men’s Lacrosse team](http://coastguardlax.vicid.net/index.php) competes in the [Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League](http://www.pioneerlacrosse.com/index.cfm) and has a playoff game tonight against Briarcliffe College at 8PM in Bethpage, NY.

Time to step up to Div 3 lacrosse.

While coast guard has won 5 and tied 1 in the 6 Superintendents Cup Trophy series, here’s kudos to the KP womens softball team on a great doubleheader and defeating the coasties “ace” pitcher 1 out of 2. Coast guard did not win the Superintendents Trophy this year they “retained” it.

Now due to Luigi’s gloating I must report:

Rumor has it that to further pad there chances to retain the cup next year, coast guard has requested not to compete(using the term loosely)against USMMA Football and Wrestling due to the Mariners physical dominance of the coasties in recent years. Coast guards first two choices to replace football and wrestling are the coastie sports of Tiddlywinks and Hopscotch.(jk)(now i’m just asking for trouble)lol

The USCGA campus is open year round if any USMMA parents or Mids want to actually see what the Superintendent’s Trophy looks like.

:D

Ouch! lol…Next season can’t get here quick enough!

sorry – still giggling at tiddlywinks and hopscotch . . . how about jax?
