Hi, I'm a freshman going into fall next year and my room sign up date is 4/24. From past experience, does anyone know if there's a chance two Beaty spots will be open?

Heres a thread where people updated dorm openings as the days went by last year…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-florida/1319697-updated-vacancies-uf-dorms.html

on page 14 it states that more vacancies opened up on Beaty after days of no openings…so keep checking back because you are allowed to switch rooms even after you pick if there are openings

As of just now there’s only 3 vacancies for guys and 4 vacancies for girls. I wouldn’t count on it.

Thanks! They seemed to have released spots in waves last year, any chance they’ll do that again?

since in the rest of the halls it looks like all the room numbers are there, I doubt it. also I don’t see how it would be fair if the intentionally did that, because the whole point of trying to get everyone to apply early to have a good selection date was that you would get to choose from all the rooms if you chose in the beginning. I mean I had a really early day and I would have been kinda mad if I chose my room and then later they open up a bunch more for people who applied later to choose from. know what I mean?

if more rooms become available my guess is that people decided not to dorm or not to attend uf, or people were holding rooms for roommates that didn’t accept the spot.

Is it fair the the prepaid college people were able to sign up before everyone else?
I guess we will see tomorrow if they release any more rooms. My sign up is tomorrow

I understand why prepaid people got to sign up first, we already paid for a double w/ air conditioning and are therefore entitled to get one. I guess uf thought the easiest way for that to happen was to let us go first. if someone who had prepaid applied late and was only left with getting a triple because of a late selection date that wouldn’t be fair.

but in the end I believe most of the pre-paid people got doubles, because if we get anything that is more expensive you have to pay extra. I got myself a double in broward, so I didn’t take one of those precious apartment spots.

also I would have had a really early housing day even without prepaid because I applied early. so my point was basically if I had wanted beaty and they intentionally waited to release a lot of those rooms until later in the month after I had chosen a different room, I would have been kinda mad about that. then what good was it to rush to get my application in to get a good day?

So to be fair ONLY the air conditioned doubles should have been released and if the prepaid wanted a different type of room they should have been on list in order of deposit date…but honestly, I am not complaining…just pointing out that things are not always fair

I just want a regular double room…so no worries :)

yeah, that probably would have been more fair. it wouldn’t really have affected me anyways because I wanted a double. but I can’t see UF going through that trouble and dealing with potential complaints from pre-paid students.

but when I saw the little amount of apartment-styles left…I did feel sorry for all the people that were set on living in beaty/lakeside

what room did you pick in Broward//what floor if you don’t want to be that specific…I am deciding between Rawlings or Broward. The day fr my roommate and I is tomorrow

I picked the 2nd floor by the lounge/bathrooms. There is still a few rooms on the 2nd floor, and a lot on the ground, first, third, and forth for broward. and I think there were a good amount left for rawlings too.

@ellen6, can you go onto the housing portal, click in the Broward floor plan and paste the link on this thread. I would like to see the floor plan. Thank you
