Beauregard Hall - Room Floor Plan

I was looking at the Floor Plan for Beauregard Hall:

http://appl003.lsu.edu/slas/reslifeweb.nsf/$Content/Beauregard+Hall

The Floor Plan is showing one desk for two people. Is that correct? Do two people have to share one desk?

Seems rather strange and inconvenient.

Probably not. They probably haven’t updated it yet. Beauregard was one of the dorms I was interested in living last fall. I remember touring the dorm two different times, and there was always two of everything.

Thanks, that’s quite helpful. What were your overall impressions of the dorm, rooms, location, safety, etc.? Where did you end up?

Do you mean all the dorms or just Beauregard?

Beauregard is an older dorm, but the oldest dorms on campus are the biggest, which is a plus. Beauregard is out past the pentagon, so it’s not close to the quad or union. However, Beauregard is the location to be if you’re a prospective music or journalism major or if you’re a big Tiger Fan. Beauregard used to the old football dorm back in the day, so it’s really close to Death Valley and the PMAC. Beauregard has hall baths that get cleaned twice a day; however, you have your own sink in your dorm room.

I ended up in Blake Hall. For me, Blake Hall was just more convenient for both me and my roomate.

Bureaugard is actually part of the Pentagon, isn’t it? How safe is that general area?

Beauregard is apart of the community, however, it is not in the actual pentagon. Beauregard’s building is behind the Pentagon. The area I found was just like anywhere else on campus which is generally safe. However, you should not underestimate your safety anywhere on LSU’s campus at night or on LSU football home game days. You run the risk of attending an open campus where anyone in the world can drive in. LSU does have it’s on PD that’s usually always on call.

Are you sure you aren’t getting Beauregard confused with Broussard Hall? Broussard hall is right behind the pentagon. Broussard used to be the old football dorms before they started housing them in WCA. Broussard hall is a freshman only dorm and houses the IT residential college. Broussard Hall and the Pentagon share a RHA community council.

Beauregard is in fact part of the Pentagon buildings. I’ve never been inside any of the Pentagon buildings, though I have hung out in the middle area in between the halls. So, I cannot attest to floor plans or whatever else on the inside.

If I recall, starting at some point last year, they restricted access to the middle portion of the Pentagon to only Pentagon residents by gating the area and making people have to swipe their cards to get in (to the dismay of many residents of WCA who now have to walk around). In addition, you still have to swipe your card to get into the building themselves.

You shouldn’t have any worries about security around the Pentagon. As far as I know, there have been any major instances of crime. Most of the stuff that happens will be student related, i.e. drunkeness and drug-realated (pot) and other things of that nature.

On gamedays that area will be pretty hectic due to tailgaters in and around that area. However, they tend to put more security around that area and furthermore you’ll have that dual swiping of cards to prevent random non-student from just wandering around the premises.

Yah, I got them confused. I’m sorry.

Now that we have clarified the right dorm, does anyone know if the Beauregard rooms have two desks? The floor plan on LSU Housing website is showing two desks for one person, which is weird.

I do believe that it only has one desk (Two chairs). I’ve seen a few photos from the reslife powerpoint slide and there’s is a picture that seems to me like one of the pentagon dorms.

I saw the same picture on the reslife powerpoint presentation. I must admit, one desk and two chairs for two people is pretty cheesey.
