Becoming a pharmacist

My high school gpa average is 1.8/4 and my GPA score was 1400... what are my chances of becoming a pharmacist and what should i do? or should i study a different career?

or anything in the medical field?

please guys i'm serious and need help

Well, presuming you graduated from high school, the first thing I would do is go to a community college for two years to get your general education requirements completed, and to work on getting good grades. At the same time, I would look into pre-med programs.

But you should be aware that pharmacy programs are very competitive--and you will have to do much better in college than you did in high school to have any shot at being admitted to a pharmacy program.

Your numbers look very bad. And please don't make the mistake that I'm judging you as a student or as a person. Your numbers really are unacceptable by pharmacy school standards; at least, not at the pharmacy school at my university, anyway.

But this isn't a death sentence. I've met others who have taken the long way. These people did not go to a university immediately. Instead, what they did was take classes to become certified pharmacy technicians and then, after reviewing the required courses at various pharmacy schools, took some of those required courses at a community college. Afterwards, they transferred to a university to get the required bachelor's degree before applying to their chosen pharmacy schools.

Some schools offer programs where you can apply to transfer without getting a bachelor's degree. Instead, the courses you have taken will be transferred to that school and you can finish up your remaining required courses, get your degree, and apply to pharmacy school.

My university, the University of the Pacific, offers such a program.

I hope this helps somewhat. If you have any other questions, just ask and I'll try to answer. I don't know how soon as I'm busy this summer, but count on it that I'll get to it. I will subscribe to this thread.
