I would like to make a little extra money and contribute my resources to those in need, but I am afraid that becoming a sperm donor will have negative implications on my professional career prospects, etc. For example, twenty years from now if I run for elected office I don't want to get dinged because I used to be a sperm donor. Should I be worried?

I can’t answer your questions but I wanted to throw out there that most (95%) male applicants are deemed ineligible to donate sperm. Don’t get your hopes up too high that you’ll get some extra spending money that way.

This article will tell you all (warning, some racy language)

If you’re considering running for office, there are a lot of other areas of your life you’ll start to scrutinize as well, such as who you dated, have you ever raised your voice at a woman, ever partied or done drugs, etc. (this is partly sarcastic, partly truth). Yes, political parties will find anything to hold against you, but donating sperm so that another couple can happily have a family won’t “ding” you as bad as neglecting a woman you impregnated, it would likely fizz out early in the election process as more serious considerations come into play.

Craigslist usually have odd jobs posted, so that’s something you could try.

If you really want to be a sperm donor (and why wouldn’t you? You’d really be helping people out, not to mention the obvious positives), don’t go telling about it if you have future hopes of being a politician or whatever. The fewer people that know about it, the less chances there are of it getting out in the future.

Sell plasma. Less likely to be denied, something that is absolutely critical, and not politically damaging- ever.

I mean, i think the question really is, “Am I going to be able to deal with the fact that I have a ‘kid’ in some regard just out in the world that I’m not ever gonna know about.” If that doesn’t bother you, and you’re not thinking of having a political career, etc, then I don’t think it’s a big deal. But if that’s going to be in the back of your head all the time, it’s not worth it in the long run.

Even for donors who request to remain anonymous, there are ways to find out who they are. So just “not telling people” won’t help you much - if someone wants to dig up dirt on you, they’ll find something.

if you got enough inches under your belt, you can try out in the adult film industry. I hear that business is booming.
