Becoming an Occupational Therapist is a lot harder than I thought

So in majoring in psychology right now and after undergrad school I want to go to graduate school to become an Occupational therapist but I honestly don't think I'll have to money for graduate school. So I was thinking about becoming an OT assistant but after soon some quick research it seems like OT assistants have to go to a Certain school. I don't know what to do. Any help?

Look at cheap programs/programs with decent scholarships, or work for a few years before applying? Or just go to that certain school? I’m not sure what to help you with.

Should I just become an OT assistant or attempt graduate school. The only problem with graduate school is that I doubt I can afford it

I am looking into OT school as well and was also a bit shocked by the overall costs. You could see if any programs are offered by state schools in your state, or think about moving after undergrad to a state that has schools you are interested in, spend a year gaining residency while working and completing any extra pre-reqs for the programs at the local CC, and then applying as an in-state resident.
Do not forget to apply for financial aid, and look into scholarships!

Look for specialty programs. Two close friends of mine are going into OT and they applied to a special program at a private college in my city. Both got into this unique five year program, with scholarship. They will meet all the requirements within that time and be able to seek out residency after.

I’m sure there are other programs available in different states. I’m not too informed regarding OT but I know there are ways to avoid a long college career getting there.
