So, I'm contemplating lofting my bed to get more space. However, I'm wondering just how much space there would be both between the floor and the bottom of the bed, and the ceiling and the top of the bed. For instance, were I to request a bed loft, would I be able to move my desk under? Or, would it be more appropriate for minifridge / chair area? Or, if I were sitting on top, would my head hit the ceiling..? (I'm 5 ft tall lol)

In any case, I'm interested in the pros/cons of bed lofting.

My friend had his bed lofted and was able to fit his desk comfortably below. He is also a short guy and had enough clearance from bed to ceiling ;)

um, it’s hard to get up there when you’re trashed. also when you bring someone back it might be kind of… well you gotta trust the structure a lot more.

i had a nook of pillows under my lofted bed. then i unlofted it after a couple of weeks - just got to be too much.

There is lofting just about a foot or two extra, which gives you room to store trunks and crap underneath. That is what my D did.

Then there is lofting, where you can fit a desk or dresser underneath.

Either way, if you plan to have your bed lofted. Go online and request it now so that it will be done when you arrive on campus. Otherwise they may run out of lofting kits and you will have to wait. Better to get it lofted and ask them to take it down then to want it and not be able to get it.
