Does anyone know how much clearance there is under the beds at Weinstein? Has anyone used risers under the legs of their beds?

it seems all the beds are the same in all the dorms and YES many do use risers to get more room under the bed. I’m not sure what the clearance is without them… I do know you can fit underthebed storage containers.

Thanks milkandsugar. I can buy either 5" or 7" risers, but don’t know which would be better. I’m thinking my daughter can store her suitcase under her bed, if necessary, along with other items she doesn’t need daily. I saw some under the bed containers that we’ll probably buy for this purpose. Move in day is getting closer, so we’re buying things little by little.

It such an exciting time. My D is going to be helping with the move in during welcome week. She just never can wait til school starts.

I am really excited about the whole thing. My daughter is excited, but also getting a bit nervous, as it dawns on her that move in day is just around the corner. I think once she finds out who her roommate is, she’ll feel more at ease.

I am glad I fell into this post because I was wondering the same thing. I am moving to NY from FL with a big suitcase and was hoping to store it under my bed with some other junk. How sturdy are the bed risers? They wont break or anything, right? There just made of plastic from what I remember.

They are made of a kind of hard rubbery material (not really flexible). I have two sets in my garage (knew daughter would have to have them and surely roommate would like them too). The beds at her school can be adjusted–not NYU.

I bought the risers at Bed Bath and Beyond, but also saw them at Target. They seem to be made of hard plastic and claim to be able to hold up to 300 pounds. I hope they work!

If they only hold 300 pounds, what happens when you have a ‘sleepover?’ Two people can easily exceed 300 pounds. I read reviews online of bed risers breaking/cracking all the time. I am not a large person but my bf is probably 200 pounds = more than 300 lbs lol. Anyone have experiences or concerns with this?

IKEA Bed risers are great, get a twin extra long dust ruffle on Ebay be prepared to cut the corners to put it on as the frames are screwed to the bed wood. You can get a ton under the beds.

The shorter risers will be tougher, I believe they also make wood ones?

Yes, I saw some wooden ones, but they were about triple the price.

Wooden ones are ridiculously expensive and don’t fit the beds, the bb& beyond and target ones are thinner and will break, ikea are cheap sturdy and fit!! I bought them all last year and compared …good luck…

Averagetim,
My daughter is only 4’10" and weighs about 95 pounds, so I hope the ones from BB&B will hold for awhile!

Also forgot to say that the wood ones didn’t fit the NYU bedframe
