Bed Sheets/Value Paks

Do you guys recommend buying the extra-long bed sheets or Value Paks that Tufts offers?

Unless you won’t have enough time to do a little dorm shopping before school starts, the Value Pak is a huge rip off. Target, BB&B, etc. will all have wider selections of things to choose from.

anymore opinions on this? my mom is tending to lean toward the value paks but then again, she does hate shopping…

You can definitely do a lot better than the deal they’re offering, but it is very convenient.

Don’t the Orientation Leaders load all the freshmen up on buses and take them to Target during Orientation Week? I’m pretty sure they do. . .

Well, if your mom prefers the Value Paks and you don’t mind choosing something from the selection given, then go for it.

Is that true snarf? We will be flying there from California and don’t want to haul sheets and towels that far, not mention shampoo.

They’ve done it for every previous Orientation Week, I doubt they’d stop now.

Perhaps the easiest way to shop for new things and transport them to Tufts is the magical wonders of the internet. Once you receive room assignment (typically not doled out until early August, unfortunately), you can just have your online purchases shipped to Tufts where they’ll be housed for you in mail services until you get to campus and pick them up.

Laptops, sheets, storage things, shower caddies, whatever. Super easy.

Yeah. They still do the Target trip for the Freshman during Orientation week. But I don’t think it was done on the first day. Maybe more like the third day?? Not sure how much “shopping” was done, either. Plus, you’d have to carry everything back on the bus!

I like Dan’s idea. And I LOVE shopping on the Internet. So easy!! I often see things I like in stores and then go home and buy it online. Most times I can find the item cheaper and online shopping sometimes offers discounts not available in the stores.

Yeah, I like the online thing too- I used it when my son went to Chicago. The ValuePac offer from Tufts says it’s shipped to your house, but I’m going to see if it can be shipped directly to Tufts. They want orders placed by the first week fo August though, so we may not have the room assignment by then. At the the university when I used to work, the dorm packs were delivered to each room by the RAs with a welcome note. I thought that was a nice touch.

I just bought the value pack because I didn’t really want to go out and shop for that stuff myself. I probably could have gotten comfier/nicer looking stuff had I actually shopped around. That didn’t really matter for me, though.
