Bedding and clean

Hey!

How many sheets, blankets and comforters should I take with me? Im gonna be in R.I where winter IS WINTER lol, so comforter and (I guess) blankets, and sheets of course will be needed I guess from at least October to February.

How does it work? How many should I take? If I only take one big comforter (feather) is it ok if I wash it once a month? or something like that? How about sheets and blankets? How does it work with you?

How often do you wash your bedding stuff?

Well I lived in Maine and winter was winter there too. I managed to survive with your normal blanket (taking into account they did have heaters). I had 3 different sets of sheets and 1 blanket for the whole year and it lasted well.

I washed my bedding every week. I washed my blanket every month.

I’d say take the comforter, 2-3 warm blankets (do you have a thick fleece one?), and 3 sheet sets should be enough. I live in MN, and it’s winter too, and I usually have my sheet set, 1 medium thick blanket, then a comforter, fleece blanket, and sometimes another blanket too in winter if I need it.

The feather comforters can be tricky to wash, because you need a really big washer, and you need to dry it thoroughly so the feathers don’t mold. You can get a duvet cover to use, that you put the comforter inside. That way, you wash the cover when it gets dirty, but don’t need to wash the comforter itself more than a couple times a year, or less, depending on how much you use it.

Thank you! great idea, I think a duvet will be easier to deal with than a feather one. I dont have a thick fleece, sounds reasonable, Im not used to extreme winter, not even snow-ish so, this is like new to me lol.

How many times a week/month should I wash the sheets? and the duvet, would it be ok if I wash it once every 2 months or once a month? I dont want to be the dirty/uncelan/smelly one lol

I changed my sheets every week (I brought 2 sets) and I washed my duvet every 3 months. I wash my comforter once a year, but it’s not feather. I really don’t think your duvet will smell after a month… unless you like rub your food into it or something

If you have a duvet made from a heavier fabric than sheets, then I would use a top sheet between you and the duvet. Wash your sheets every week or two (depending on your clean factor). I would consider a bed cover to go over your whole set-up for when people are in your room and sit on your bed.

Wash bedding every 2-2 1/2 weeks, and depending on the comforter, wash that each month.

Overkill much?
Just take the comforter/duvet, 1-2 sets of sheets (unless you’re lazy and don’t do all of your laundry in one day, there really isn’t need for more than 1 set), and 1 or 2 blankets.

In the dorms, the heat should be warm enough that bundling isn’t a complete necessity. We’re cheap in my apt though- we keep it at 62 to keep gas costs down, so I use 3 extra blankets at night.

I like having an extra set of sheets just in case. Dorm rooms are usually well-heated so you may not need that many blankets. I would bring 2 sets of sheets, your comforter, and an extra blanket or two. You may find that the extra blankets are unneccesary once the heat is on, but you can always store them.

I didnt even sleep with a comforter during the winter our dorm was kept so warm.

Granted, i consider 60-62 degrees comfortable wearing gym shorts and t shirt. Bring two sheet sets, 1 blanket tops. Otherwise its just extra space/stuff to carry.
