would a twin size comforter work for a twin xl bed at cornell? or would it be too short?
i've noticed that twin size comforters are much cuter than twin xl comforters...
but maybe stores wont start carrying good stuff until july/august?

Twin will be a little short.

Since a fair number of students move off campus after freshman year...I noticed that a lot of first years students actually bought full size comforters for their beds. It works well if you don't have a top bunk (if you and your roomie decide to bunk your beds).

I say that stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond have a great selection of twin xl sheets sets in July/August.

is there a BB&B near Cornell?

Yes there is.

You will be fine with a twin comforter. Its the fitted sheets that really matter.

Vivace13 is right, especially since many bedding manufacturers' twin comforters run on the long side; LL Bean is a good example. If you've found something really cute, don't hesitate to call up the company to ask for the exact measurements. I love what I bought from Ikea, so if you have one nearby, I would definitely give that one a shot.

well...I am pretty tall and so twin is barely long enough for me...I guess it depends on you.

If you look carefully at the package labels on the twin XL bed-in-a-bag combos, you will probably find that the only thing that's XL is the sheets. Everything else will probably be ordinary twin.

My daughter found a quilt she likes...would that be warm enough, or does everyone generally bring comforters?

I noticed that a lot of people brought comforters. I actually brought both a quilt and a comforter because during the summer and spring the comforter was too warm and the quilt was perfect.

yeah, a twin is fine.
