I received a brochure from USC housing saying that their beds were specially made for SC and were a unique shape, and that normal bedsheets may not fit. They conveniently included a catalogue from which I would order sheets to fit their beds, but they are all ugly and there are very few men's designs.

Are the beds really that abnormal, or are they just XL Twins?

I really do not want to have to buy SCs ugly sheets, and if that is the case then USC has really gone too far.

They are XL Twin...my daughter has also found some regular Twin sheets fit fine on the bed along with the XL Twin size. (Examples are twin sheets from Lands' End or LL Bean, which tend to be roomier -- they have extra material on the bottom sheet to ensure a secure fit on a regular Twin mattress and that seems to enable them to fit OK on the XL Twin mattress too.)

It is not really SC's sheets... It is another company that provides the same thing to many different colleges

Anyway, I have been hearing that the quality of it is pretty bad, and people are recommending instead buying XL sheets at a store like Bed bath and beyond

USC uses extra-long twin beds that are 36" by 80". The sheets from the company that sells them for USC are not the greatest quality, but they are ok and durable. It's possible to buy them at linen stores, but it's not always easy to get the colors you want and it's not easy to find much better quality for XL twin. From the USC HOUSING BROCURE- "Proceeds fund student leadership development programs." I'm not advocating buying them there, just giving the info I've found.
