"Bedtime" in college?

Just wondering, what would you say is the typicall freshmen bedtime? Sorry for using such a childish term, but is for lack of a better word. I have 8 am classes every day of the week and will be in the marching band. In high school I was use to getting up at 6-6:30 every day regardless of how late I stayed up. I would normally hit the hay at around 10 or 11. Is this normal(the going to sleep part) in a college enviroment? I am not a very big partier and no that I would probably have to limit my partying to thurs, fri, and saturday nights most likely.

It's not so much when you go to bed as to when others go to bed. Unless you can sleep with noise. Figure your sleep habits will change and you'll probably hit the sack around 1 a.m. and rise about 9 a.m., unless of course you scheduled a 8-9 a.m. class..silly person. Naps will help.

I'm in a precollege program and it's normal for me to go to bed at 5AM or not fall asleep in the first place.

Unfortuantly, I have a 8am class every day of the week.

I hope I can get to sleep at a decent time...gotta wake up for 7am practice

Naps. Use as directed. Next year, schedule differently. :) luck.

Going to sleep @ 10 is too early in the first place... unless u have a roommate who has a similiar sleeping schedule, it won't happen. XP

bed time hhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

The latest that I usually go to bed is about 2 AM. I make it my cutoff time. If I cannot get closer to finishing my work, then I just fall into my bed.

it really depends whether theres sommink on tv, your out partying, your doing work, your socialising, your making love....so many factors

on average i was going to bed at 2/3 in my first year

"making love" that's cute i never hear that term anymore. lol

I learned that my best friend in college is caffeine..stay up late wake up early. sleeping habits were totally destroyed.

Bedtime? College? HAHAHAHAHA!

I got used to going to sleep at 11-12 and getting up at 8:30/9:00 all summer for work before I went to college, so I just pretty much continued that when I got there and went to sleep around midnight for the most part, got up between 9 and 10. My roommate went to sleep like 2 hours later than me and got up 2 hours later than me but it wasn't really an issue.

I never really got into the idea of getting 4-5 hours of sleep at night because you were up until 4 am doing pretty much nothing, and then taking naps in the middle of the day because you're too tired to stay awake all day long.

^We're saying the same thing.

My advice is: Whatever doensn't kill you the next day is a good time to sleep. Basicly get enough rest so you can function the next day for studying. It really depends on the person. If you need 2 hours of sleep or 12 hours of sleep to function.
Sorry that was abstract I'll try again.
You should go to bed as early or late as you need, to get enough rest to study properly the next day. If going to sleep at 8 so you can get up at 6, jog, shower, eat breakfast - works. Do it then. If going to sleep at 5AM and getting up at 7:45 to run to class dishevled and then sleeping inbetween class breaks - works. Do it then.

There is no set thing like this in college. There's only guidelines you can choose to follow. I actually agree with Strykur.

Just make sure you do at least 6 hours a night so you don't get sick.

see the sleeping isn't that much of a problem if you guys can sleep through light and sound (or at least the computer screen and winging) But there are some people who DEMEND complete silence and darkness becuz they think they own the damn place (and u don't have a paper due tomorrow no.. oh wait u do) around 10... that ****ed me off

I go to bed at 3 AM much of the time when I have school because I waste so much time, but it makes me feel like crap, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Go to bed around 12 or before, regardless of when you start.

In terms of health, it's much better to do your sleeping in one lump sum at night. Taking naps are sometimes necessary but aren't as effective as allowing yourself 8 hours of sleep at once.

My advice....

Drink up on caffeine, take a 15 min nap, and your good to go, no matter how much sleep (or lack of) you have :)
