My wife and I are taking our son to visit Beloit College next week. He graduates next year, and would potentially enter in the fall of 2011.

We will be doing the usual visit stuff (taking the tour, my son will sit in on a class, we will meet with the admissions staff). In addition, my son will be interviewing.

Is there anything unique to Beloit that we should make sure to see, ask about, etc?

My son has read up on all of the standard interview questions for college interviews. Can anyone give us an idea of what they will ask in the Beloit interview?

The view from the fourth floor of the Science Center is so gorgeous. The entire Science Center is gorgeous. Well, Beloit in general is gorgeous. Also, the Logan Museum of Anthropology is a great place to check out. It’s open every day except Monday from 11-4.

Although I no longer remember the specifics of my daughter’s interview—she’s a Beloit sophomore now—I do know that the admissions staff did their best to make her feel at ease. Everyone she dealt with was good-humored and pleasant.

One of the things that is unique about Beloit is the FYI program for freshman. It begins with an unusually long orientation—about 10 days—and mentoring and peer relationships are forged that last throughout the year and beyond. The topics for the individual FYIs are often creative and fun. If your son isn’t already familiar with FYI, he could review the program and ask any questions that occur to him.

I am a current Junior in HS and I had an off campus interview last november. It was really laid back and definately not to be worried about. She asked all the basic questions (why beloit, what do you do after school, what do you you want me to know about yourself) etc, but it was mainly me asking her questions.

MichDad2011 . could you please post a visit report??? My d is considering Beloit also and we may not be able to visit until if and when she is accepted. Any feedback on your visit would be appreciated!
