Been waitlisted and rejected, but what about Hopkins?

Hey College Confidential (Johns Hopkins subforum). I'm qwertylad, and was wondering what my chances may be at Hopkins. I visited the campus last spring (great time to visit because it looked AMAZING flower petals on ground, green grass, happy people, etc.), and really enjoyed it. Anyways, I had a chance thread on the "What My Chances?" forum, but I think that the people who can give a most accurate chance of a school are the ones in that school's subforum, as they are most likely to know what their specific school is looking for.

Essays and Recommendations:
Math Rec: Quite good, she's a good writer, likes me, and taught me 2yrs
Other Teacher Rec: Should also be good. Swim coach, World Hist. Teacher, taught me 1.25yrs
Counselor Rec: Me and her get along quite well
Essays: I'm not a great writer, but I'd say most were pretty above average for me, my common app long was about engineering + me.

Anyways, I really like this school, and would like some other peoples' opinions about my stats. I've really been quite nervous this last month, and am not going to like the next 3-4 weeks :-/. Anyways, thanks for the chances guys :D. Oh, and its not for Biomedical Engineering, as a side-note.

You have a 0 percent chance.

But really, I’m kinda freaking out after my most recent waitlist, and would like to know if I have a decent chance getting in anywhere I actually like.

Where did you get rejected and waitlisted?

I think you have a great chance!

Rejected Stanford SCEA, Olin
Waitlisted Caltech

Thanks for the reassuring words Modulation.

Making Caltech’s waitlist is an accomplishment!

you’re in…

Stanford is so tough anyway, I don’t think it matters. How did you do swimming, diving AND water polo? Are they consecutive seasons at your school?

I’m thinking you’re in.

Thanks for the responses. My mom and I are slightly more settled since others (aside from our family) think I’ve got a good chance.

Water Polo is fall. Diving and swimming are consecutive. Last year swimming and diving were 3-5 and 5-7, respectively. This year I have to split my time between the two because of the new times 3:30-5:30 and 3:30-5:30, but I didn’t put this year on app because I hadn’t yet begun it when I applied because it’s a spring sport.

Stanford is very protective of its yield and doesn’t like to take applicants whom they think might not accept an offer of admission. Getting rejected from Stanford has no bearing on whether you will get into Hopkins. Last year one of my daughter’s classmates who was also rejected from Stanford SCEA is now at Harvard. I think you have an excellent shot at Hopkins; you have excellent test scores, grades and ECs. Good luck.
