Before and After Acceptance, Volunteering.

To any and all of you students who volunteered a ton, like more than 150 hrs a year, how many of you plan to/actually continue to volunteer while in college or plan to/actually volunteer this much after college?

I did about 750 volunteer hours throughout high school and more if considering junior high. I fully intend to continue volunteering throughout and beyond college. If you are trying to decide whether or not volunteering is worth it in terms of college admissions, yes, most selective colleges consider volunteer work. But most selective colleges can also detect false interests. Don’t volunteer for anything you aren’t truly passionate about. Remember, you’ll likely be asked to write about volunteer experiences.

Oh this is not about me. I’m just wondering about what other people do lol.

Bump. Im interested in this as well

How about this take on things?
<a href=“Closing Of Homeless Shelter Leaves College-Application-Padding Students With Nowhere To Turn”>http://www.theonion.com/articles/closing-of-homeless-shelter-leaves-collegeapplicat,2461/

I’m not sure. I love volunteering and would love to continue. My parents don’t think it’s practical though. They say, “Why not just get a job? You can make money by doing the same exact thing you’re doing right now.” Right now they’re okay with it because they know it goes hand in hand with getting into college, but not so much in the future. Yes, it’s my life, but if they are paying for my college and likely a couple years after my college and likely part of my graduate school, then I can at least show them some respect by spending my time making money to pay them back. Once I’m financially independent, I’ll try to volunteer but I doubt it will work with my schedule.
