Essays and Recs should all be good

It will probably come down to your essay -- "[it] should be good" isn't specific enough.

It looks good to me, decent shot for ED.

I'd say you have a decent shot for ED. I'm sorry to say that from what I've heard being a White Female from the North East will actually hurt you a bit. They had their lowest admit rate in recent years due to a crazy ammount of applicants they got. So anything to differentiate yourself will help. This is just what i've gotten from talking to people and being able to visit campus.

I can't say whether or not you will get into Middlebury for sure, but I can say for certain that Middlebury or any other school would be lucky to have you! Definitely visit Bucknell and Colgate (potential matches, although in the current admissions climate they may be reaches), Dartmouth and Duke (as reaches).

your stats show absolutely no passion in one subject- Schools won't know what you're interested in! EC's aren't really strong nor are your awards. I don't think you'll get in.

i'd say you're being a bit harsh, bobmallet...if i had to bet my life on what would happen, i'd say she'd get deferred and then rejected. but with those very strong sat's and otherwise solid stuff, i'd say she has a chance if her essays and recs are all very good.

I would bet she's in if my life depended on it. Frankly, she has high SATs, hopefully a good rank, and it seems she's challenged herself. Her ECs could be stronger, but applying ED should help her overcome that. Good luck and I expect you to be admitted in the fall.

You'll get in.
Middlebury isn't that selective.
People are treating this like you're an Ivy applicant.

"Middlebury isn't that selective."

what??? i mean, its no Harvard, but its pretty darn selective.

you obviously don't know know about middlebury... People don't get into top LACs just by having good SATs (SAT Subject tests aren't really good anyways), good rank, and generic ECs... She needs a hook

^^^Thanks for your comments BOB they were swell!!lol... Now moving on..I dont think you have anything to worry about... i would definitely bet that you will be accepted ED too.

I think ED you have a good shot, RD would be a toughie especially given you're a white female from new england.

Oh I know that Middlebury is a top LAC, no doubt, and its admissions can be comprable to those of Ivies, however, like most other colleges the numerics (grades and test scores) come first.

You are not 'perfect'. People on Collegeconfidential complain about having stats much better than yours. But you have a good shot at Middlebury. I would say it is a match for you. Your chance of getting in is likely above 50%.

Lebdev...read her first post. :)

Lol. I missed the "just kidding" part. By the way, learn to spell my surname.

lebedev - did you read her first sentence? (edit - now that I see your second post, nevermind)

And I would agree that you(midgirl) have a very solid shot, but are far from a lock.

I just said I did above.

would this applicant definitely get into brown, cornell, or columbia?
