Beijing Olympics

i am. but i'm not obsessed with him yet. as of now. idk about the future tho...haha

Is he part fish or something?

his size 14 feet look very much like flippers =P

Well, I'm kinda obsessed with him, and yes, I'm a female, and yes, I think he's very cute. I don't even know why I'm so attracted to him, but like I said before in a previous post, he's not conventionally attractive but his sincerity and goofy-awkward niceness make him so adorable. He seems like the type of guy that's really tall and physically imposing but really dorky and sweet.

dude EVERYONE is obsessed with michael phelps right now its insane haha
he's adorable in that awkward but so cute kinda way haha

but yeah...olympic gymnasts are short....its an advantage, just like being tall is an advantage to basketball. thus you get 4'8" gymnasts (like shawn johnson), and like giant basketball players.
but if you just looked at the american gymnasts faces, you could tell they were all over 16.
if you looked at the chinese gymnats faces, I'd would prob guess they were like 10 (with the exception of that one 20 yr old one)
and, as someone else mentioned, one of the girls was MISSING A TOOTH!

Cheating or not, that's the decision of the olympic committee and their investigation. But the Chinese beats USA because they performed better at that final. You can't just look at someone's face and say that's too young.

Remember team usa's gymnastic coach and coordinator used to support people below 16 to go to the olympics.

"We take away the dreams of the young ones, and we drive them from the sport," Karolyi said. "Why? What is the point? Why should the little ones not be able to show what they do?"

now after loosing the karolyis complain. Seems like they're bitter.

I have to agree that, for the most part, the Chinese gymnastics team did look a bit young, but how many times have you met an Asian that DIDN'T look older than he/she really was?

Anyways, I'm rooting for South Korea. We're doing a lot better than I would've thought, and we're hanging onto our 3rd place standings (in overall and gold medal count). Of course when Korea's not performing, I'm behind the U.S.

And Phelps is a beasttttt.

korea owns
we're actually not doing too bad, seeing as nobody in korea really participates in things like the olympics but rather watches it on TV shouting aimlessly "EVEN I COULD DO BETTER THAN THAT"
and our swimmer is better than michael phelps :P
and he's much more tallishawkardlookingbutfuntowatch XD

Blah Michael Phelps is just going to fall into obscurity unless some sports award is named after him. This is the trend with Olympic oriented athletes. It's quite unfortunate. For example, did anyone actually know who Mark Spitz was before Michael Phelps declared that he was going to break his record of winning the most gold medals in a single Olympics? Did anyone know who Carl Lewis was?

Can I just say--womens sabre fencing RULES! US sweep. That was amazing.

Michael Phelps is built for swimming. His arm circumference is taller than he is. Plus, his muscles produce ridiculously low levels of lactic acid, making him less likely to be tired after a strenuous swim.

And oh, he loves swimming too.

He also has ADHD(?), so that could possibly provide him with some extra energy.

Btw, womens beach volleyball is getting pretty intense right now.

He's also double-jointed so his dolphin kick starts from his chest rather than from his hips.

I think most people with an inkling about the history of sports know who Mark Spitz and Carl Lewis are.

Suh-nap.

i think that person has a good point...

anyway do you people think China can beat USA this time?

I think china might win the gold medal count, but not total medal count.

^^^ I agree

gold and silver in girls all around gymnastics.
woo hoo.

I was a little worried about May/Walsh against Belgium during the first set. It would worry me if I were up against an opponent whom I didn't know much about. It was amazing to see them make a comeback.

^ I agree that was a great match. Sweeden and Germany are about to go to overtime in womens soccer.
