Being a 5th year student?

I'm a second year student and about a week or so I felt the urge to double major in chemistry and econ. I looked at my transcript and I'm on track to graduate on time (at the end of my 4th year) if I just stick with my chem major. But I want to be really awesome ( jk xD) and major in econ as well (don't ask me why haha). But the thing is, it's not possible to double major unless I stayed at UCLA for an extra year. I'd go ask a counselor, but with four finals coming up this week, I just don't have the time and I want to know what are the steps to "apply" for an extra year of studying at UCLA? Do you even have to apply? If you do, what are the chances UCLA will grant permission to study for an extra year? Links, etc would be helpful too. <3

you dont have to apply to be a 5th year. but you have to petition if you will go over your maximum unit cap.

How hard is it to petition? And will you have to do it every quarter you stay over?

^again, you don't have to petition to stay the extra year. you only have to petition if you go over max unit cap.

as long as you show the counselors that you have a well thought out plan to graduate, i don't see why they won't let you do it.

I ment every quarter you stay over the year and over the unit cap as well. Seems reasonable.
