Hello! I was accepted to Hamilton as a Jan and I’d love to hear everyone’s experience either with Jans or being a Jan. I’m in love with Hamilton and really want to go but I’m not sure if I’m independent or confident enough to live on my own in London (which is the program I’d want to do).
Hi, coliet27, my son was a Jan, class of '22, currently a sophomore at Hamilton. He spent his first semester in London and really enjoyed it. I will talk to him and then PM you.
See pages 1-3 of this thread on here. There is some talk about being a Jan and what the experience is like.
Remember that if you decide to go to London you’re not there alone. 45-50 Hamilton Jans live together in a building.
My son was a Jan for class of 2021 and chose to go to London, and had a great experience. Happy to answer your questions too. Congratulations!!! We love Hamilton
Though you may not feel it to be the case at the moment, you were chosen to be a Jan based partly on Hamilton’s confidence in your readiness for new experiences. Btw, if you meet the prerequisite, consider the advantages of studying Shakespeare in London (see LONS DTSH 280 below).

That’s so sweet of you! I’d love to hear his experience.
Hi everyone, I have a question. I was admitted as a Jan. The financial aid letter explained that they won’t be telling me my full financial aid package (with my family’s demonstrated need considered) until after I have made my deposit. My current financial letter only includes money from FAFSA, nothing from Hamilton. Does anyone have experience with this? I think we might call to get an estimate. I just don’t want to be in a lot of debt, but I really really would love to attend.
@clairebear58, that’s crazy. That can’t be right. I thought they always have to give you your full financial aid package before making a decision. I would definitely call and tell them you need to see your financial aid package before committing. How could they possibly expect you to make a decision without knowing what financial commitment you’re committing to?
D is currently a sophomore and was admitted as a Jan in Ed2. We were given an aid package shortly after acceptance as well as the opportunity to appeal it. Unless this is connected with the upheaval the virus has caused, which I can understand slowing down their ability to formulate packages for all accepted students, I cannot imagine that they would expect you to accept without knowing what the financial repercussions are.
There have been a few people in different threads on here asking about January admission. Since Hamilton is not allowing visitors to campus right now and Accepted Students Day has been canceled, they have been hosting some virtual events to help accepted students make their decisions. One of the virtual panels with existing students is about Jans and will be April 9 at 7:00. See the link below, Upcoming Virtual Events.
